We went for dinner to this place which is in downtown Davis. We were looking for places open around 9 pm on Sunday and this was one of few places open. We had samosas for appetizers, Poori with Paneer tikka masala and the vegan thali for mains. The samosas were oily and they had a sprinkling of Chaat masala over them. The filling needed more seasoning. This was still better than the poori and the “ paneer tikka masala “. The potato was oily and doughy. I had asked for the spicy version of the paneer dish. However the dish was anything but spicy. It was overly sweet. The smoky taste and the richness which we expect from the paneer tikka masala was not there at all. The thali was the saving Grace of all dishes or at least some part of the thali. The thali has 2 samosas 5 momos dal, mix veg curry, chickpeas masala, rice and roti. The chickpeas dish was good. It was a disappointing experience.
One of the worst Indian Restaurants in Western USA. It was one of those Indian restaurants that is just in business because there is no other Indian joint around in the area. It was dark, smelled like an old kitchen that was never cleaned off its oil vapour. The plates were dirty, the cutlery had old food stuck on it. The bathrooms were dirty. And the food was inedible. The veg momos' stuffing had uncooked veggies with overpowering smell of cardamom. Who puts cardamom in momos. The chicken cha cha noodles, though advertised as Tibetan style, had boiled large chunks of carrot that had no flavour and the whole noodles smelled like tomato ketchup. Pathetic pathetic food.
Very friendly staff and the food is really good.
I understand that this is a college town and inflation is causing the cost of food to be higher, but charging $16 for curry and then not even including a thing of free rice is absolutely outrageous. On top of that, the curry is in a small container and is not even filling. Would not recommend this place at all.
WOW...???????????... SIMPLY THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD IN 69 years on this ?
Can’t recommend this place enough. I’ve been coming here consistently every week and I can say that all their vegetable dishes are packed full of flavor and are fresh. If you are a vegetarian, this spot is a must-try in Davis for authentic Indian food.
After we ordered our food and drinks, we waited for over 15 minutes only to have the server drop the drinks onto my lap and the table. (We were not comped for the drinks or anything btw)All dinner entrees do NOT come with rice or naan, they have to be purchased separately, and they do not mention this at any point. This is the first Nepalese restaurant that doesn't at least include the rice that I've ever been to before. Terrible experience, I'd recommend trying a different restaurant. Also the chicken t. marsala was made with what tasted like ketchup and sugar. We all tasted it and left it untouched beyond that.
Robbed by Kathmandu Kitchen. Ordered on Kathmandu’s website and requested delivery. 2 hours later and I’ve still not received my food. Called and spoke to the owner and they refused to deliver the food because of a driver shortage. They said myOnly option was to come and pickup the food. I then requested a refund to which the owner said he was too busy and hung up on me. They then stoped answering their phone. I’m at a loss because I ordered through their website.. but they won’t refund the transaction. I would suggest they shut down their delivery option if it’s not an option. I’ve ordered from this place numerous times with no issue but I’llNever order from here again. I understand covid and driver shortages but the fact that the owner hung up on us and offered no options was unacceptable.
I had tandoori chicken and sizzler. The preparation was reasonable and I liked the food. But the taste is certainly not a great representative of what you'll find in the Indian subcontinent. It's relatively bland and also somewhat overpriced for the quantity that they give. Anyway, the menu overall is good and things can be improved!
Worst nepali food I have ever had. They put cardamom in momos. Really?? The noodles were loaded with sugary sweet sauce and had potatoes in it. The vegan thali was extremely bland and flavorless. I have always liked nepali restaurants but this one was an exception. I will never ever recommend anyone who loves nepali food to visit this restaurant.
