I am so glad we gave this new sushi restaurant a try because we had an incredible dinner at Hikari. My friends and I had been excitedly waiting for this place to open as it can be hard to find a place with authentic and fresh sashimi and nigiri. Each dish was a masterpiece. The chef made everything to perfection and had high standards for ensuring the sushi was fresh. We were dazzled by the colors of the fish and careful arrangement of each dish. This place makes it into my hall of fame of memorable sushi dinners.I would say if you are looking for a place to order a bunch your usual sushi rolls with panko, spicy mayo, and sweet sauce, this place might not be exactly what you are expecting. But if you are seeking a unique, phenomenal dinner experience and enjoy eating fresh, raw seafood, you will be pleased. This place is truly a gem.The perfect pre-meal watch: Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Best sushi experience in Davis for sure! But, a few wrinkles to iron out - the wagyu was not available the day of our visit due to supplier difficulties and the omakase experience is a little atypical as it’s the chef and his wife trying to prepare dishes for what is about 15 diners and you don’t get the more exclusive intimate experience and conversation of a traditional omakaseThat said the food is delicious and high quality - like light years beyond the next best for in Davis and despite the slightly nontraditional omakase experience, it is excellent value. They don’t have a liquor license at the time of my visit which was a real bummer - I like a nice sake or beer with my sushi experience - but I definitely plan to return when/if they do!

Came here on opening night! The staff and chefs were so kind and the food was great. Great value and the fish was so fresh!

The food here is amazing! We came late in the day while the place was busy, but they were very gracious about it and made it worth the wait. If you're going to get sushi at Davis, this is the place to go!

We had a wonderful experience. Loved every stage of our meal. Truly something special. The owners are dedicated to providing the best product possible. A winner for sure!

If you would like to experience the best quality of sushi in Davis, visit Hikari! The chef will serve you the best dishes with the passion. I have been to many sushi places and also omakase experiences (not just in the US but overseas). But, this place is definitely worth paying $$$ for Omakase. They just opened, so as they settle for business, your experience will only get better :)

This is a brand new, small family restaurant. Family should be an operative word here. The cook, sous chef and people who take care of customers are family and really nice people. They offer high quality sushi during the week but on Friday and Saturday they have one seating at 7 pm for a fantastic dinner experience of 7-9 plates. The quality of the fish and the overall food was amazing. Because there is only one cook, service will be a bit slow. So enjoy the ride and go with no pressure. Experience takes about 2.5 hours. Cost is above average, but remember this is a dining experience. Owners still need to fine tune the experience, but I hope the city rallies behind this new restaurant and keep it afloat. We need this type of dining experiences in Davis.

Probably one of the better places to get something to eat in the Davis area. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. The food was really good, you can actually taste the quality of the ingredients compared to a lot of “sushi” places that are in the area.

I wouldn’t say the best sushi I ever had, but it obviously one of the best sushi in Davis. Also it has the best furnish as well as survice among other sushi restaurants in Davis. Satisfied freshness of their fish and lkura, but the tamaki in their omakase plate is little bit blow expectation; the nori around is too soft and not that easy to chew while eating. The chief claim he has over 20 years sushi experience so the quality is trusted. Besides omakase plate they also has some average price sushi, between 10$-20$, overall is a good place for trying.

The best sushi of my life. My partner and I literally cried because it was so good. Sithu and Zin put so much love into the food, into the restaurant, the plating, and everything from top to bottom, inside and out. No corners cut. You can TASTE it!!!True healing food and they only use sustainably-caught highest grade fish. Salmon and tuna melt in your mouth.
