Food was on its way up. The Chef knows what they're doing but needs to improve technique; flavors & textures were very close to excellent. I'm sure with time and feedback this place will be a most go for even those that must travel to get here. The sauces needed a bit more time for the alcohol to cook off and needed to be a bit thicker. A variety of Italian beer would be good for those that can't have wine. The indoor seating way too crowded and I think it would be safer to have more options. Other than few critiques, it's a must try for Italian living foodies. We will most likely go again.

On May 9, 2021 my fiancé, Farida Nelson and stepson Tommy Hajiyev dined for brunch at Mangia Mi located at 406 Hartz Avenue, Danville, CA 94526. The reservation was made by phone and re-confirmed our reservation via email with our pre-order as requested. We entered the rear of the restaurant and were greeted by a waiter who brought us to our table in the front patio area of the restaurant. He took our drink order. Approximately five minutes went by when another waiter, a lady rudely walked up to us and asked us if we had reservations. I responded affirmatively. Her demeanor was derogatory and then asked me what my name was. I informed her the reservation is in the name of Tim Hill and that someone had already taken our drink order. She abruptly walked away saying she was sorry. Later on, she brought the food in question that became the source of this disagreement. We enjoyed our food, but the staff seemed disorganized. Two of the orders had minor issues regarding a side order that were resolved albeit they served us bacon that was undercooked, which we promptly sent back to the kitchen. There was additional confusion regarding the bacon, primarily due to the restaurant’s misinformation. The entrees we ordered came with bacon. I pre-ordered them with bacon plus a side of extra bacon. They were confused by their own menu and claimed they didn’t charge me for bacon I had already ingested on the part of me and my stepson. I paid for my bill on my credit card. I did not ask for any accommodation whatsoever. As we were preparing to leave a male approached our table and got within three inches of my face inquiring as to what the problem was with our order. He did not identify himself. He did not offer any apology. I responded that the problem was resolved and that we were leaving. He then asked to take care of our check. My fiancé said, “no” and I added, “I don’t care what you do, but we’re done here, please leave us alone”. He became enraged and started shaking his finger in my face exclaiming, “No, you don’t get away with that around here”. I am the owner and have been here 13-years and no one treats me like that”. I was stunned. I responded by responding with, “First, you didn’t identify yourself. I assumed you were the manager, but you have no right to get in my face and get angry. I asked you to back up and please leave us alone.” He continued to berate us by saying, “We served you perfectly fine food and now you want a free meal”, loud enough for the entire restaurant to hear. He then asked if I was going to tip his waiters. I replied again with, “I told you we’re done here, please back up”. We got up to leave and he followed us out of the restaurant screaming that we were stealing from him and purposely dined there to get a free meal by complaining about the food. I shielded my family from him continuing to walk out of the restaurant and told him to get the hell away from me and my family in a decisive tone. I also added that I didn’t appreciate his racist behavior towards me and my family. I never asked for any price accommodation and paid the entire bill of $77.72. This is a true statement. Tim Hill, May 9, 2021 This person who confronted us is the Owner of Mangia Mi in Danville, CA and goes by the name of Peter Cedolini.
