This place is hopping. Lots of customers. Sushi is pretty decent. Prices are not too bad. Come early if you want first seating.

Close to 600 reviews with 4 star what can be wrong.Who ever gave this place 5 stars, never had a good sushi in his life. The fish here definitely not fresh and no flavor. The use a lot of sauce to add flavor to their unflavored fish. The service is unprofessional. After few bites we just asked for the check and left.

Had a large party and they were Fantastic. Quick service. Very friendly. Very very good sushi. Crazy Genkai, lobster roll, and crunchy roll were super yummy. I definitely recommend

This place has been here a very long time. We went on a Sunday for an early dinner (4:30) to avoid the wait and crowd. We ordered the Philadelphia roll the tiger roll, two sashimi platters, udon noodles and shrimp tempura. The food was delicious! Only thing we didn't enjoy was how LOUD it got in the tiny dinning room. It was on a level that I couldn't hear conversation at my own table! The staff is very busy and not so attentive. I had to get up several times to ask for assistance. Not a relaxing atmosphere but loved the food.

I have been eating Sushi for over 30 Years now and my go to places are Tommy's Sushi and Taiko Sushi these are two of the best whole in the wall places around that I have made as my go to places. I have been to hundreds of places from Orange County, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and everywhere in between. My wife wanted to go down to the beach so I found this place online, from the outside it didn't look like much but one the doors opened I was quite pleased how nice the inside looked. Also, they have one the the largest sushi bars I have ever seen. This place has some amazing dishes, the quality of the sushi is great, and the dishes are awesome, it is a like a combination of my 2 favorite places of all time. The sushi chefs are really nice and do some great dishes, I highly recommend the Spicy garlic salmon, Screamin O, and the Baked Muscles are my 2nd favorite of all time, and order a Rainbow Roll, with onions, bonito and ponzu it is the best!I have already been back a second time and will continue to frequent this pace for many years to come. Looking forward to going again soon, I am so blessed to find this place.Gen Kai Sushi will now be my 3rd favorite sushi place to go to, you guys rock!

A hidden gem in south Orange County! Really good sushi a, casual beachy atmosphere and great service make this one of my favorite spots in Dana Point.

Best Sushi ever! The BBQ eel and rainbow roll were second to none. Highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar

Best sushi place. There always super busy so come prepared to be patient but it's always worth it. All of the staff works really hard.

Average Sushi. The Spanish Mackerel lacked the silky mouth feel. The Ikura was not great. The spicy tuna was meh. The spider roll was crispy but not great tasting. The shrimp sashimi was meh. The salmon roll wasn’t good. And we were all hungry! Nothing was terrible but nothing was good, service included. Totally average sushi.

My husband and I had the most delicious meal! I would seriously eat the baked salmon roll every day if I could. This place is next-level. The rice is perfectly prepared and the sashimi dinner was outstanding! We got there right when they opened for dinner at 5:00pm and within 20 minutes, it was packed. That is how popular this place is and that is a good sign.
