Authentic Shanghai dishes! Really enjoy some of the dishes. We came for Saturday lunch around noon and sat outdoor. Due to staff shortage, the service was tad slow but understandable since there were only two servers and is was rush lunch time. I really liked the Shanghai mushroom combo, savory soy milk, egg yolk tofu and the herbs with tofu skin salad.
The food here is quite good and I think pretty authentic compared to other Shanghai restaurants. We ordered a dozen of dishes and they were all pretty good. The price is ok for the quantity. However, this place is terrible to dine in because they don’t open the AC and honestly I don’t understand why. I sweated so much while eating and could not stay one second longer after the diner. Terrible. I even one time ask them to open the AC and the waiter told me that they don’t open the AC.
The noodle texture was pretty good. XLB was great.
I only ordered one dumpling and one appetizer. Waited 50 mins but still didn’t get the dumplings. Another table seated at the same time already finished and left. A table seated long time after us already got all their dishes. I talked with a server once to make sure they got my order. I also had to ask them to bring me water otherwise no one checked on us.At 1:30pm I was starving and still haven’t got my dumplings. My friend told the server to cancel the order. He just told us “ok just leave just leave” without charging us.It was a very sad experience because we weren’t treated fairly. I knew they were busy so didn’t want to bother them too much. If the kitchen is really too busy, it’s understandable. However, I didn’t order anything that would take a long time to make. No one just paid any attention to us.
Authentic Shanghainese food !
I came to this resturant thinking this was the same Shanghai no 1 as the one in Southern California. It turns out that this restaurant is not and have no affliation with the SoCal one. Still glad I came and ate here. The Shanghai dumplings are one of the best I have had in the Bay Area. The dumplings inside was filled with soup with right portion of meat and dumpling skin thickness was just right. They also had one of the best Shanghai pan fried pork buns that I have had in the Bay Area. The pork bun was fried with a nice crispy bottom and inside the bun was a soupy pork filling as well. I would definitely come back again to eat here when I am craving some Shanghai food.
My go-to for quality Chinese food that hits the spot. Consistently flavorful but not too oily. Good portions and prices. My favorite dish is the salt and pepper fish.
We had dinner here. Ordered the shanghai dumplings, potstickers, gluten with stuff meat, and seafood with chinese fried sticks. All the dishes were very tasty. I will definitely be back!
Food was good. Service was mix.One waiter was impatient and rude. He throw dish on the table then leave before we can ask anything. He was no where to be found when we needed him. Not even refill water. He didn’t stop by our table to check on us. When we request dish and extra spoons, he said yes, then never brought us anything while serving other tables. The other waiter was ok.This level of service doesn’t deserve 18% default tips.
We were originally from Shanghai, always looking for authentic Shanghai street food. We went this place on Monday evening around 5 pm, the restaurant was quit empty. We ordered 上海生煎and 家常豆腐. We loved their 生煎, bottom is crispy and inside is very juicy / tasty - miced pork, very authentic. I will definitely come back for more 生煎 and will try their steamed 小笼包 as well.
