Interesting and good food. Had the Salt & Pepper Shrimp, Hamburger potsticker, Lu Rou Mein, wonton in chili oil, and a Taro Milk Tea.All the food was from good to great. The Taro Milk tea however was a disappointment. With such a large milk tea menu it was surprising to be mediocre at best.Come for the food, not the milk tea.
Very clean, public parking lot nearby, good service, good cocktails! Dumplings are delicious but servings are on the spare side. $4 for 2 tiny donuts which did not live up to their reputation. Food overall is very tasty but I could have eaten more for the money. I know rents are very high in that neighborhood!
We shared plates. The jumbo hamburger potsticker was interesting but not my favorite. Now the roasted brussel sprouts in chili oil was the bomb.com. I could have eaten two orders by myself. Lu Rou Mein loved it as well. Shrimp fried rice very tasty. We even tried mochi donuts. We had the cinnamon sugar and black sesame sugar. Black sesame was my favorite. The meal was excellent and everyone left full. Hoping to go again soon.
Definitely for non Asian peoples taste buds. I have a Peking duck addiction and this was just not it. The skin was not crispy enough. The buns were not soft and white and fluffy. They were denser than what a authentic Chinese restaurant would do. Also came with apple sauce. Probably to mask the taste. The drinks I will say are good. Got the dirty Thai tea and you can get drunk off that shieezzz
I really liked the Brussels sprouts (I can’t believe someone was able to make Brussels sprouts that I would eat!!!)…; like, alot…. The noodles were better than descent…. The only reason that I retracted 1 star, is because my wife is a super avid top chef fan and saw Shirley in the kitchen and asked the waiter if they could do a selfie. The waiter said that she is too busy. I was disappointed. Mind you…. She is a HUGE fan of top chef and we have done several pictures with top chef alumni and they are usually super cool about it…. and this is the first time that we were turned down. I get it…. balancing fans on top of kitchen duties can be super difficult but needless to say I was still disappointed… My wife looks up to Shirley big time….. all and all, restaurant was fantastic and the waiter was top notch
This place has been on my LA list for a while as I’m a huge Top Chef fan, and it did not disappoint! I unfortunately didn’t take any pictures because once the food came out, I just wanted to start eating it. The cheeseburger dumplings were delicious. Chef Shirley should consider selling that bacon tomato jam… we also got the orange chicken and beef chow mein, both of which were excellent. I wish I was an empty pit so I could’ve tried more from the menu. My only teensy complaint is the parking is a bit difficult, but that’s not a deal breaker by any means. I will definitely be back once we’re in LA again.
Food just wasn't wow - tasted OK, but nothing special. Place was very clean, location is great, prices above average - but I think I will go elsewhere for Chinese.
Well yesterday I ate at Chin Chin‘s on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood and I ordered the exact same food today at Ms. Chi. Ms. Chi wins by a 100 yards. More authentic to flavor of Chinese Food. And less sugar.
We were so excited to visit Chef Shirleys restaurant. But the service was terrible even though there was not a single customer when we first walked in.Food including starters all came out at once and there was a weird fascination with aioli on the menu-several items were drowned in it. Very disappointing experience. 2 stars is generous.
Highlight dishes here they were amazing and be sure to release you inner fat kid with amazing cheeseburger potstickers. The orange chicken was a let down but everything else was great. On the pricier side.
