Last night Anniversary Dinner/Date. Great experience. Re-wind to a formal dinner experience, NOT CORPORATE AMERICA!!! YAY!!! Food was excellent. Service was great. Be prepared to spend money, but worth it. Special place-

A perfect, classic old LA steakhouse experience. We’re always looking forward to our next visit every time we eat here!

From the relaxing environment to the amazing service to the outstanding food, it was overall a 5 star dining experience and I would definitely eat here again.

--Ordered garlic bread and 2 appitizers. Asked that the garlic bread be served 1st. All 3 came at the same time. --Garlic bread had too much cheese, not enough garlic, and somewhst soggy. --Onion soup way too salty. --Ribeye was ordered medium rare, came medium. No marble and not tender. --Mushrooms also too salty. --Bread pudding not just warm, not hot enough.

The food is phenomenal. Best center-cut grilled pork chop I have ever had. Service is amazing, too. And you can’t beat the 1962 Dear John’s vibe and history. So glad this classic place was saved from Covid shutdown fate.

A great high end meal. There wasn’t a single lack luster dish or drink served. The midnight margarita (pictured) was beautiful and tasty. The bougie tots were delicious and well worth the order. The entire table was raving about them. I got the salmon and it was impeccable. Not a single person left disappointed.

Went on 2021/22 New Years Eve. The Rib Eye melted in the mouth, with a tasteful texture all around - very fresh, tender and flavorful. No question one of the best you’ll find around Los Angeles, amongst the top steakhouses. Our side dishes and salads were very pleasing. The service was expedient yet not pushy. Cocktails were delightful. I hope this management stays put, as I’d like to bring them more of my business.

I was meeting up with a good friend and she suggested this restaurant. I felt lucky to find a parking spot in their full lot. I didn't see a valet parking option. It would be challenging to find any street parking here. After getting my vaccination record checked, I grabbed a stingily poured draft IPA at their packed bar and took the ambiance in, as I waited for both my table, and for my friend to arrive. It's a smallish, super dark, busy place with a feel of a club lounge or a comedy store set up. The only thing missing would be a haze of cigarette smoke in the air like I assume in its prime decades ago. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a pool table out back. It wouldn't be out of place. The dress is casual. Lots of jeans and T shirts.Once we settled in the service was very efficient. The prices seemed out of place for this establishment. More Beverly Hills than Culver City. An order of a marinated pork chop with no sides ($48), a small portion of filet beef with no sides ($65), an appetizer of wedge salad ($18), a side of potatoes ($11), the chocolate waffle bar w half a scoop of vanilla ice cream ($14). The IPA at probably 8oz ($8). However, we spent a good hour there and enjoyed ourselves with good conversation, great service and with the food being good, though not memorable. Plus I got that front row parking space.I would come back here to grab a drink at the bar but not necessarily for a foodie experience.

Your café has my most noteworthy suggestion! We had a superb lunch at your café on Sunday evening. The food was essentially awesome. I owe it to the group to recognize their chivalrous and caring consideration of me. They were enchanted by their fans just as without help from anyone else. It has gotten a great deal of positive audits!!

Its nondescript shopping strip building belies Dear John's nature as a prime example of a vanished Hollywood night life. Hard by was MGM's Culver City lot where Frank Sinatra was among many stars filming movies. Folk lore maintains that Dear John's was opened at the behest of Sinatra to provide a place for him to have dinner after acting, singing and dancing at the studio all day. It's dark-red interior, Italian-American menu and the generous cocktails--not to mention the extremely professional wait staff--evoke the glamour of that vanished age for the span of a dinnertime. Its former Rat Pack habitués can be easily imagined in the rowdy darkness.
