Nice place for lunch during shopping trip.
When eating at a decent restaurant the server makes all the difference in the world. Soft-spoken, attentive, courteous, genuinely involved in making our visit as good as possible.
After a long day of driving in to Costa Mesa, then shopping, decided to grab a late lunch/early dinner at Ruscello. We had a short wait as extremely busy. Once seated our server came over and took our order. We had a bit of a wait for our food, but we were just glad to sit and relax as we weren't in a rush. My husband ordered the Chicken Club with Maple Glazed Bacon and I decided on the daily pizza special. We both were very happy with our choices.
Not the consistent experience anymore. Food (chicken) was undercooked, prepared with no care or concentration to the quality. The club sandwich wasnât the usual composition, it resembled something from a school cafeteria. Attentiveness was awkward too, cups were empty for a long time. But hey, the calamari was good!
Had a bowl of the signature roma tomato soup perfectly paired with parmessan crostini...for $8/bowl. Nice ambience. Definitely Repeat!
The service was very slow at a time they were not busy. The waitress was not very pleasant. We ordered salads which were not very good. My afternoon lunch friend is one of those people who eats some and takes the rest home for later. She didn't even bother.

Food was great. Receptionist seated me after I told her my lunch companion was not yet there. 10 minutes later my companion texted me that she had been waiting at reception for me but receptionist said I wasn't there yet.
Great selection on the menu and reasonably priced. We had an excellent waiter. Great ambience although a bit loud.
