I absolutely loved our time here today! I am forever grateful for the welcome we received when our party of 10, relatives visiting from Mexico after years of not being able to see them, walked in. The care that our wait staff gave us, was just beyond the best! The whole family enjoyed the food and service. You gave us something that was special, a loving memory with family. They loved the food, popcorn shrimp tacos were a hit and so was the margaritas! Thank you so much! I am so grateful we spent time at this wonderful restaurant!

We ordered Shrimp & Grits and a Corned Beef Breakfast Burrito for an evening delivery. Everything was delicious. The shrimp & grits is a unique take with fried okra, a house made barbecue sauce (that they could bottle up and sell) green Chile grits (mild) and perfectly cooked shrimp and poached eggs. 5 starsThe breakfast burrito was more delicate in flavor but everything was fresh and delicious about it. Each bite had a piece of corned beef and veggies. The eggs were cooked wonderfully and the tortilla was fresh, so it was just good eats.Packaging was also great with these environmental friendly to go containers.Lastly, I called Memphis Cafe bc Doordash doesn’t list what’s actually in any of their menu items and Phil was super nice & helpful. All around, 5 stars for delivery on food, service, and packaging. We look forward to trying more of their menu items…

Heading to Segerstrom Center for a musical and wanted to find something new close by. We have such good experiences with Trip Advisor recommendations and this one did not disappoint. We split a fried chicken sandwich, green chile grits, collard greens, and the peach/blackberry cobbler. We really enjoyed everything. My favorite was the green chile grits; I will try to recreate that at home. Our real score is a 4.5 and what would give it a 5 would be to serve the cobbler a la mode

Loved the shrimp and grits! Very unique and tasty! The dirty rice and black eyed peas were nice and spicy! The bartender offered me a small sample of the capputini. It was delish! Food server and all staff were fun and friendly. Definitely going back again!

1. Venue:VEGETARIANS WILL APPRECIATEMemphis Soul is a normal looking restaurant located in Costa Mesa,California. It is nestled in SOBECA District. It took 15 mins to get a table which is not surprising given the popularity of the place. Music catered to a 40+ crowd a very “chill” and relaxing Cali feel to it.2. Food QualityI ordered the following:Old fashioned & LemonadeThe Old Fashion could’ve been sweeter but then again, it can always be sweeter!Ordered the Down Home Gumbo, Collared Greens, Hoppin’ John and the Banana Fosters Bread Pudding. The Down Home Gumbo was flavorful mi and mildly spicy. The portion was a little smaller than I anticipated but nonetheless acceptable. The rice was delicious and reminded me of my moms cooking.Hoppin’ John was also spicy but balanced, it is a dish that most vegetarians need to have. The Collard Greens were delicious and were prepared with butter and honey. The initial sweetness tempered the normal bitterness of normal collard greens. In fact, I didn’t taste any bitterness at all and I couldn’t stop eating them while I was waiting for dessert. The Banana Fosters Bread Pudding was mildly sweet and it felt like an original older recipe and for whatever reason it took me back to the 70’s.3. Service-Product Knowledge/Friendliness:Initially friendly but when I mentioned I’m a reviewer there was that “Plz stop the non-sense already” ?? and I don’t blame her so I kept pressing on to taste more food.4. Promptness/Delivery:Food delivery was a little on the slow side but it did appear a rush was right behind me and this sole component did affect the overall score.5. Cleanliness:The place was clean but as with any busy place the flow of customers naturally impinges upon the level of tidiness.6. Price/Value:Excellent for being in Cali and for an established cuisine and locale. Would give it a 3.5 rating but no such options are possible. Will be back to try breakfast in the future.

AWESOME AS ALWAYS! Best fried chicken sandwich in Costa Mesa. Hands down.

A lovely place with nice food we had brunch and it was amazing give it a try if you are around .The down thing is the ventilation of the kitchen is bad.

They had me with the meatloaf! Need to go back for the breakfast offerings and do many other things on the menu. Strongly recommend! Nothing fancy but great food and friendly service.

I had their meatloaf and it was fantastic. The best I have ever had, seriously! My husband had the Cobra Chicken sandwich and said they it was delicious as well. Server was right on top of everything also… a great meal.

First of all, love the vibe and their happy staffs! It has a little nice outdoor seating area at the back with lots of ceiling heaters.I thought our food tasted good but not memorable or amazing.
