Avila's is extremely busy on a Friday night, but we only had to wait about 5 to 8 minutes for seating for party of three. Our food was delicious. I had Chicken Mole Enchiladas, which I enjoyed tremendously. My brother had the carnitas and he said was tender and flavorful. His wife ordered a burrito but perhaps due to some confusion she ended up with the appetizer sampler, which she said was great nonetheless.
There are so many Mexican restaurants in Costa Mesa, but this place is in my top 5. The salsa and guacamole is always fresh!I come here for the Mole, which is the perfect sauce to go on top of chicken. Generous portions and great service.
Avila's El Ranchito is a must go to for some great authentic Mexican food! I have to say that during our most recent trip to the LA area, this spot was the highlight of our trip! As others have mentioned the guacamole, salsa & chips were wonderful! The food platters were fresh, and the staff were great! Love the great atmosphere we were in. Thank you to all @ Avila's El Ranchito! We had a great experience, and will definitely be back!
We were in town for a short vacation. Just happened to stumble across this place. From the second you walk through the door we were met by Salvador who was very gracious and quickly got us to the table. Our server was very friendly and even though they were a little busy she took the time to make sure our meal was perfect. We would highly recommend going here. From the great hospitality to the food the experience was great.
awesome service grateful excellent drinks
This location of Avilas has been my favorite for years for me and my family. It is one of the best places in SoCal and they truly treat you like family here. The staff are always very kind and accomplished, the food is consistently delicious and fresh, and the vibe of the restaurant is perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking an authentic, family-oriented Mexican cuisine experience.
Awesome food and awesome service, we're making this our weekly Mexican dinner spot! Our server, Rocky was super friendly, Salvador attended to our every request and Estella made the most amazing fresh tortillas delivered tableside, definitely like the ones my mother makes. Can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
Great service, good food the kind of Mexican food I am used to (combination plates, etc), good value for SoCal, clean, comfortable, not fancy but a true sit down restaurant. I am so happy I found this place and it will surely become one of our monthly If not weekly haunts.
Wanted to have huevos rancheros and a Bloody Maria for lunch so I checked my Maps app and El Ranchito popped up. Used to eat here often in the '70s when I lived in Costa Mesa. Still great!
I drove by this restaurant for years meaning to stop by and recently my wife and I did and I'm very glad for it. This is really traditional Mexican food that I came to love when I moved to California almost 40 years ago, that used to be common but is now hard to find. It has all of my favorites but I especially liked the shrimp. The prices are very reasonable as well. There are several of these restaurants around but it is not a chain or franchise, it is one family that owns them. My wife went to one in Santa Ana near her work and loved the food there just as much. Great place to have a nice meal and a couple of drinks and relax. The have both inside and outside seating. During the dark days of the pandemic, we were getting take out from them to make sure they stayed in business and found the take out food as good as when we ate there. I have found that at the popular times there can be a long wait to get in so if you’re going on a Friday evening, go early.
