My friend & I ended up leaving Elvira's Grill to walk a bit in downtown Claremont. We came across Walter's Restaurant & decided to get dessert here. We were seated in their outdoor area which we wanted. My friend & I ordered the same dessert, but w/different gelato on it. The dessert is called a Brownie Sundae. The host & our waiter hyped it up as an amazing dessert. Boy, my friend & I were disappointed. 1st words out of my friend's mouth were "It's hard to cut into." She said it did taste good. She had gotten the Belgian Dark Chocolate Gelato on top of hers. Ok, mine I had few complaints. When our waiter was listing the few gelatos you can get w/the Brownie Sundae, he mentioned Dolce De Leche which I like because of the caramel flavor that u get, so that's what I ordered. But, when the server brought our desserts to the table he said "Who had the Banana Brownie Sundae..." My friend & I looked @ each other rather confused, & then he added "...I also have a Belgian Dark Chocolate Brownie Sundae." My friend said "That's mine." He placed the plate before her, was about to place the other before me, but I spoke up & said. "Umm, I ordered the Dolce De Leche gelato." The server pulled back the plate & replied. "Yeah, ah, it's actually Banana Dolce De Leche." I sighed w/irritation because our waiter failed to mention that part. "Fine," I said. The server placed the plate in front of me, adding "If you don't like it, we can always take it back & give you something else." "It'll be fine," I answered. I have some issue w/the dessert. My friend was right it was difficult to cut into the brownie to get a bite. They should have @ least warmed the brownie to melt the large chocolate chips that were layered throughout the brownie. Secondly, I was expecting a scoop of gelato on the brownie, not a circle that looked like it was squeezed thru a piping bag. Another thing that really annoyed me was that our server returned to ask if we were ok before our waiter did. I asked if there was refills on the coffee & our server said there was. He went & brought me more coffee quickly. But, when I asked for more creamers, he never returned. To me, this was a rather mediocre experience & I don't know if I will be returning in the future.

We had high expectations for Walters. Its an old mainstay of Claremont and we had heard high praise for Walters- multiple times .Full points on ambience and service. But alas food wasn't all that impressive. Lamb dishes lacked flavor and so did the pasta. The best dish on the table was the simple Goat Cheese pizza. The Afghan fries fell short on seasoning and flavor . The Asparagus fries were just ok.Dessert on the other hand was pretty good...the Tiramisu and Apricot tart saved the day. Really sad this one didn't meet the expectations!.

We went to see a speaker and needed dinner after before we took the long drive home. I haven't been in Claremont for many years, but someone suggested going to the Village. We came upon Walter's, a place that I remember from my youth, and were thrilled to find that it was open late. We ordered dinner and I was so impressed by everything we had. Super tasty and the service was really great. We started with asparagus fries which came with a lime sauce that is to die for. My husband got chicken kebabs and I got the tandoori salmon. Everything was so good! Made for a nice impromptu date!

Not cheap, by any means. The Margarita was tiny and pricey. I didn't my paying, but get real and give me my money's worth. The food was excellent, as was the service. The goat was cooked to perfection. I was Impressed by the layers of flavors in every bite.I will return, but I'll have my Margarita someplace that serves it in a larger glass.

Yikes this place has gone downhill! We were sat outside & right away we could see things that this meal was going to be long. The table was very wobbly & tile pieces were missing. The salt & pepper shakers were dirty as well. When the grains are sticking to the inside of the glass shakers, that means the shakers haven’t been cleaned in a long time. We asked for new ones & they were “cleaner”. We also noticed it was extreme dirty outside. When was the last time someone cleaned the windows or dusted the place? Very, very dirty. Now on to the food:Mediocre. I ordered the chicken kebabs which sounded great but they fell flat. The rice was tasteless. They put some mushroom marinade on it as well and that was very distasteful. My dad ordered the turkey vegetable soup & a wedge salad. Both were okay. They only have 3 salad dressings: ranch, bleu cheese & their vinaigrette. My mom had the salmon with potatoes & veggies & she was the only one that had a good meal! Our server was great but the people who help him get the drinks/orders out made him look bad.Drinks were awful. We had water & it tasted dirty. My mom ordered a coca-cola & it was flat.We also ordered 2 sprites & they accidentally gave me club soda.Nothing special about this place. It just seems like one of those restaurants that are on their last legs still charging a lot of money to stay afloat. There are definitely better places to go & eat & I rather spend my money somewhere else.

Excellent service and ambiance - especially the porch and courtyard areas but the food is not tasty and very expensive. But the bread is very good.

I was so pleased to have found a restaurant with safe, outdoor dining, a large varied menu, and pleasant waitstaff. It was a hot day, but the roof kept the sun off the six of us and the breeze was pleasant.

We’ve been coming to Walter’s for well over 40 years now! Did I just say that? They are part of the fabric of our family. Great service, food and the ambiance (morning or night) is second to none. Dawoud and his entire staff have it all dialed in! Oh … and Great Bloody Mary’s too! ?

It's a quiet whimsical little cozy place..friendly staff and efficient...their complementary bread is so good..our 1st time there and definitely not our last. Next time will be for dinner ? ?

Wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Casual elegance. Excellent service by our knowledgeable young waiter. We enjoyed everything he recommended.
