I really like the tamales here and everyone has always been nice when I go in. Fresh and hot.
I ordered over the phone . When I arrived my order was ready ,kept in a warmer for freshness. Check out process wasn't a hassle .I prefer the potato and veg vegan tamale over the soy chorizo
So sad to see the state of this restaurant. Before the pandemic, my family would frequent The Tamale Guy and it was so pleasant. Now it’s just depressing. They never have anything in stock and there’s nowhere to sit, only one small table for two people. Where they used to have tables and a tv that played music, they have freezers. With all those freezers out in what used to be the seating area you would think they would have enough ingredients but they’re always running out of something. Today they didn’t have beans so we got two scopes of rice, if you dine in your meal doesn’t come on a plate anymore it comes in a to-go container. We noticed they changed the rice, they used to use jasmine rice which was very flavorful but now they have bland white rice. Really my money probably would have been better spent somewhere else, like Patty’s. The tamale I had was good but my husband’s was burnt. Seen complaints about this happening several times before. Not the most comfortable place to be in but if you’re ordering to go and only tamales should be fine unless they run out of those too.
The Tamale Man is real! He is amazing and makes the best tamales, you need to try the super plate! It was an amazing dining experience.
Absolutely incredible, and a great price on Wednesdays! We got a dozen absolutely delicious tamales for around $19 and we could not be happier. Great customer service and great (speedy!) food!!
Tuesdays they offer 1/2 price tamales when you buy 6 or 12.
Came in at 7pm, they're open until 9pm...sold out. Returned at 2pm the next day ordered 6 sweet, 6 chicken, 6 green chili and cheese..cashier returns from the kitchen says they're out of sweet tamales and pineapple raisins, ok just chicken and cheese/green chili then. I pay then he returns and says they're out of chicken too. I get 6 beef, 6 cheese get home and the first beef tamal I unwrap has a long reddish brown hair cooked into the masa.
Service was friendly, unfortunately they were out of some tamales I would have liked to try. Tamales were good but incredibly inconsistent. Some were close to 50/50 while others were more like 85/15.
There masa and meat are good. But what i dont like is is your first bite he have meat and Masa and then your second bite is all Masa that happened to the first two of my beef tamales the chorizo tamale was acting like meat all the way through it
My go-to spot for vegetarian and vegan tamales! They're ready-made and you can walk out with fresh tamales right away. I visited today 12/9 and even though it's a super busy tamale season they still had plenty of options for take out. They're good tamales with plenty of filling. $13 for a half dozen. Their vegan options include red beans & jalapenos, potato & veggies, soyrizo, and nopales. I eat cheese but usually opt for the vegan tamales over chile and cheese, because the vegan tamales are so flavorful!
