It has been a long time since I have eaten here and now, of course, things have changed. We went at 11:30 on a Monday and it was not crowded at all. They seated us in their outside patio which was nice because it was covered and cooler. Our server were her mask and they had paper menus as well. The service was great and the food was good. Will go back again another time.
Attending a show in Claremont made for the perfect excuse to visit Espiau’s. The salsa was delightful with the special seasoned tortilla chips Although tempted to try something new the Tacolada keeps calling my name. Even the beans and rice were abundant and serve well as the next days lunch. From the old Pomona shop in the 79’s to the now Claremont home it fulfills the memories and makes new ones.
Sometimes you crave it. Delicious Mexican salads with tons of cheese on top, the daily sandwiches and chips/salsa. Sandwich was great, side pickle and another side you get to pick.
Espiau’s was a memory from long ago. First dinner date 46 years ago. Moved from area but wanted to rekindle the date. Long since restaurant had moved to Claremont so it was a plan. The Espiau Salad was exactly as remembered. Crisp iceberg topped win finely shredded white cheeses. A oil and vinegar dressing completed the memory. The entree of a tacorito was perfect. Shredded beef taco served wet like an enchilada. The whole experience was better than the memories. Beans and rice balanced out the plate and a cherry pepper garnish. The old school feel and the modern restaurant will again make this a place to bring my wife and introduce the experience to my children and grandkids.
We go here with multiple families and always enjoy the atmosphere. Plenty of space. Their meals have large portions and their salad with lots of cheese and their homemade dressing is great. Their shredded beef burritos are huge and tasty. Something here for everyone.
We liked our lunch. Tangy chips and spicy salsa are always good. People love their chips. We had a taco salad which was great, and flautas with black beans, which were also very good. Guacamole is fresh and perfect.
My favorite place to eat when I'm in Claremont. The hard tacos and burgers are my favorite along with the chips and salsa.
If you're a teacher and you like happy hour, this is the place to go. It doesn't matter what USD you're from, you'll both with other educators over appetizers and drinks. Remember to über home.

They serve margaritas in Mason jars. How adorable. The burrito was very large. Not the most authentic Mexican food, but still worth it.
