The place and service are fine.We went in around 5:30P got outside seating and there were so many flies. This place needs a fly zapper or something. We had the option to eat inside but I hope they can do something about the outside seating (fly problem). The food was overpriced. Olive garden is way better option if you wanna do pasta.

Poor service, will not go again. A few years ago we had a similar experience and thought we’d try again. This time, we had half frozen appetizers brought to us. After letting staff know, they took the items back and obviously reheated what we already had. Entree time came around and found a large hair in food. At the end of the night we thought something would be compensated, but it was not. Staff were friendly but not enough to make us want to go back.

Dined with a group of friends. Pleasing atmosphere and outside dining is available. We had an excellent server. The food is rich with heavy cream sauces. My potatoes were greasy, but the meat was done exactly as ordered. Vegetables were just OK, some overcooked and others tough. Watch the bill. A 20% tip has already been included on the paper you sign. Only the other billing page discloses this.

A week later and I am still thinking about the black sesame peanut butter creme brulee. This desert looked, and might as well have tasted like a soggy ashtray. The waitress put it on the table and quickly left, and upon seeing we had barely eaten any of it, said zero when she took the dish away. First, the sugar was scorched black all over (if it was somehow sesame seeds making it black, you couldn't tell by taste or texture). Then, when we cracked it open to get to the creme, we discovered a grey paste which tasted vaguely like peanut butter and sesame seeds, but mostly just a bland, disappointing, cold mush. Can someone at Red Tavern please explain this dessert to me? It was just comically bad. How could you serve that?!Anyway, the entrees were mediocre. Wine was good. Service good. Ambiance always nice.Red Tavern is just not what it used to be, which was a truly gourmet restaurant. Well, the prices are still gourmet, but the food is not. I do not feel that there is any consistent passion for food at Red Tavern anymore. It is beginning to feel generic and tired I am sorry to say.

This is one of the nicer places to get dinner in Chico. It's a bit more pricey but it's a good special night out without the kids kind of place. Dinner and a couple drinks runs about $100. The service and food are worth it.

Great food. Wonderful staff. If its slow you can get seats but I would recommend getting reservations we got lucky that they had a slow day.

Overpriced big time $42 steak probably cost them 6 bucks to make $11 salad no toppings on mine . Dessert was excellent meatloaf was cold they redid it It took us 2 hours to have dinner Brussels sprouts excellentNot worth the money I can get a 22 oz stake for 22.00 at other restaurants compared to 5200 for 6 ounces that had to go back to the kitchen to re cook

The food can't be beat. Service terrific. Nice night out.

My wife and I love date nights here. The menu always has wonderful new optionss, and the staff is always really great. It is definitely a treat we highly suggest love one here for any occasion.
