This place used to be great. Are there new owners? I went two days ago and got my normal 3 crispy taco plate which is usually epic and they were terrible! They used to have actual fried tacos to order and these were basically like taco bell. Cheap out of a box taco shells, barely any meat, I ordered spicy and they were not spicy at all. Basically a lot of lettuce, a few tomatoes, and cheap non-authentic tacos. I should have known when my order came out less than 1 minute after I ordered....not the real gordo.... :(
Taco Tuesday is getting progressively harder to review, due to not too many establishments left to rate. So, this time I went to Gordo Burrito in search of tacos I hadn't eaten. Chalk this up to another learning experience. Normally I only try street tacos, but they had a special on hard shell (3 for $6) with lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and choice of meat (carne asada). I then got 2 street tacos ($1.75 ea), both carne asada, extra spicy (?). To say the meat was bland is an understatement... it had ZERO flavor with the exception of the lard it must've been sitting in. Very little onion, mostly cilantro, no lime...and mild at BEST for claiming spicy. The hard shell tacos were overflowing with lettuce, hardly any tomato, a large amount of the sour cream, lemon wedge, and again, NOT spicy. The shells were crisp, but fell apart with the 1st bite. It's getting to the point I may have to try dine-in restaurants for my Taco experiences, but I will NOT return here unless I'm high jacked. I'm getting to old to eat at sub-par food trucks. Read my other reviews...PLENTY of stellar food trucks in town, just not this one.
We ordered Gordo burrito and shrimp tacos. Both were good, the burrito could have used some more meat. The wait time wasn't bad, overall a good spot for some lunch grub.
This gets a one star because there edible. But have no flavor. Gordo tacos is what I'm trying to eat. Won't be going here again. Love going into Mexican restaurants and hearing all Spanish... I think yay no white people are making my food. But this makes me question my process.
Great food. Staff is always nice. And it is close to home, so that is a bonus. I would still drive across town for the food.
Very good authentic Mexican food sometimes I drive from Orland to Chico just for that taste.
Always one of the go-to places in town. if you know, you know kind of a thing. Great food, good prices. Try the grilled tacos. Burritos are good of course, and the breakfast burritos are awesome. Call ahead to have your order ready when you get there because it gets busy!Almost don't want to leave a good review to keep this place a secret from the people who don't already know.
This is my favorite place to go for burritos and shrimp tacos but it is sad that it closes so early now I 100% recommend
Instant ramen podcast to ya boy juan!
