Had a good experience in this spot with my girlfriend. The food was served fast and the customer service is just fantastic. Prices are reasonable.

The Meadows is a restaurant on the Redwood Canyon Golf Course. Apparently a golf club restaurant that also offers large groups like weddings. Beside the restaurant the Meadows include cocktail lounge, ballroom and wedding rose room. For foreigners the restaurant is hard to be found at Redwood Canyon in Castro Valley. We came for a weekday and the restaurant was modestly full. The atmosphere was casual, friendly. Next door a wedding party went on with a Mexican band playing loudly. This restaurant has changed hands several times in the past few years, not such a good sign. But we came to dine, not to review the quality of management.Unfortunately the food is average and the service is hardly from professional. Our dishes were served on cold plates. Such is fine for a simple eatery, but rather amateurishly for a restaurant that tries to keeping up appearances.

I once again ordered dinner for take-out a couple nights ago. I was told they had rare prime rib; it was well-done, and a little tough. The rest of the meal was a little sloppily assembled. Just an off night. I will return, as the restaurant is very close to me, and on most occasions has prepared good food.

This restaurant has changed hands in the past few years, and while they have managed to maintain a high quality of food, the service is terrible. As a group of three couples who were there for dinner, we asked our waiter if we could have separate checks - one per couple. He said no, then looked around the empty restaurant and said it was a busy night. There were literally no other customers, though he claimed to have a party of fourteen on their way in. The waiter went on to warn us that he expects to be so busy that he probably won’t be very attentive to our group. Why we stayed, I don’t know, but he was right about one thing — he was not very attentive. Overall, the food was quite good. However, I would not return, nor would I recommend the restaurant, based on the service we received (or I should say, didn’t receive).

We used to be regulars at the old Paradise Grill and Barbeque, until the quality fell off and the drink prices escalated. We simply quit going, which is unfortunate as we loved the wonderful, peaceful location only 5 minutes from downtown.Recently reborn as The Meadows at Redwood Canyon Golf Course, the restaurant now features a limited dinner menu and is only open on Friday and Saturday evenings. You might see this as a negative, but what they do prepare and serve is well above their previous offerings. Everything we've sampled so far has been perfectly prepared, delicious, and presented with elegance. If you haven't been lately, you're missing something well above the other culinary offerings to be had in Castro Valley.
