On May 4th we held a wedding luncheon for 20 people in the banquet room and it was perfect. We had two dedicated servers, one very experienced gentleman server, and a new girl (we were apparently her first table). Both were excellent, and very friendly and attentive to the group the entire time we were there. We all ordered off the regular menu and we had no issues that I was aware of. Food came out quickly and they brought drink pitchers so we could refill as needed. They even took our two small cakes back to be refrigerated until we were ready for them. Overall, we were very happy with Don Jose's and would highly recommend them. Their banquet room is cozy... probably seats 25 to 30 comfortably. We had tables lined up to make a single long table and that was perfect for our group of 20. We also had a single table set up in the front corner of the room for our cakes. We really appreciate everything Don Jose's did to accommodate our party! It was perfect!
My wife and I went to DJ’s last night for Cinco de Mayo. I called around noon to see if they were booked up, the staff offered me one time slot and I took it. We get there in the evening and they don’t have my reservation but they were accommodating and got us a table (there were quite a few empty tables during our visit). I’ve been wanting to come here since we moved to CV. Unfortunately it was an unimpressive experience. The margaritas were terrible and the food was below average at best. The staff was nice but our server seemed to be overwhelmed. Still looking for a quality dining experience in CV.
They didn’t make my margarita right. If you run the glass in salt, you can’t pour it into another glass without getting salt in it, and I don’t do salt. I suggest requesting corn tortilla chips with the guacamole because they serve them with flour tortilla chips. Yuk! Otherwise, everything else was great.
My wife and I love coming here. Natalie is a great bartender, has great customer service she's professional and gets the job done. She makes great drinks!! Always has a smile and runs the bar efficiently.
I'm not going back to this place again. I found a bug in my food and the manager came and rolled it on his finger and said it was nothing but also took an order off my bill. Press on pic to see the bug because for some reason it doesn't show up when you look at it
The server was nice and engaging. The two people I was with thought the food was just ok, and lacked flavor. Probably will not be back.
Haven't been here in years because I have never liked their food. But the lady I am dating, really likes their chille rellenos. Her food, she loved (she did order the CRs). It was a small order (for $13) but she was OK w/that. I had the carnitas plate.While I liked the rice & beans (and guac/salad), even though it was a small serving, the actual carnitas were not that good. They served the pork carnitas on a bed of red cabbage (actually, much more cabbage than pork). It tasted like they "steamed" the "pulled pork-like" carnitas. I don't think it was fried at all? It really tasted like they re-warmed this pork (it was served in a oven-sizzling iron plate). Not only was that (too), a small serving (for $16?) but it just didn't taste right (and was very salty - which is why I think they were re-warmed?). I gave 3-stars because the service was decent. My food was mediocre, at best. Do not order Don Jose's carnitas plate (if you really like carnitas, as I do). I judge the quality of a Mexican restaurant based on how their carnitas presentation is and this was NOT good.We didn't order any drinks but looking at the drink-menu, their pricing seemed fair. Maybe a good margarita would have made my carnitas taste better? Last item, in closing, when we got to the restaurant one of the front doors/2 was open. It made the whole eating area cold. My date noticed it more than I did. So, I got up and closed the door. Good grief, it was 45 degrees outside. What was someone thinking?
Dinner was excellent!! My friend even had a delightful Margarita....everything was fresh and prepared with attention to detail. The turnaround time was brief with a scrumptious outcome.??
Horrible food, can goods taste much better in my opinion. I tried many times to like because the old traditional looks of the restaurant. Also the servers have been very rude many times.
Love this place! The food is good and the service outstanding. They also have a full bar, outside dining and a banquet room.
