From the moment you step into Darrows you will feel a sense of community. The staff is extremely warm and personable. I immediately spotted the cornbread but up close and personal it's warm, moist and drizzled with syrup. The owner took my order and he was amazing; such a genuine spirit. I ordered the file gumbo, fried oysters and greens. The gumbo was filled with shrimp, crab legs and sausage. I would definitely recommend and will absolutely visit again.
Our church, Triedstone MBC, just hosted a luncheon for our leadership team. It was catered by Darrow’s New Orleans Grill. We were very pleased with our experience. The food was delicious. And the service was great! They arrived early. And the food was hot. The owner, Norwood, presented the food with a very appetizing description of each entree. Everyone loved it! Additionally, the portions were very generous. And everyone went back for seconds. At Triedstone, we do everything with excellence. And Darrow’s definitely met the challenge. We say, “Thank You” to Norwood and his entire staff. We look forward to doing more business with you in the near future. Sincerely Submitted, Pastor Quentin T. If you’re looking for exceptional hospitality and good old-fashioned down home cooking, get in the car and stop at Avalon and Carson in the beautiful city of Carson, CA. My nephew and I had collard greens and catfish, and he had red beans and rice. My sister had gumbo. Our food was delicious and what’s more it was fresh and not salty. I also had a bowl of my favorite dessert — peach cobbler. So good and not too sweet. From what I can see, all the customers are treated like they are special. Darrow introduces the customers to each other. Now how cool is that. ??
Food was horrible. I had the catfish and shrimp. No Flavor or seasoning. Overpriced food for small portions. Also My fries were soggy, they were supposed to be “Cajun” they just sprinkled Cajun seasoning at the top of it. The French bread is dry. My colleagues also were disappointed. Rice and beans were disgusting as well as the greens. I never make reviews but after paying $25 with tip for my meal I’m highly upset.
Wife and I came here for the first time. The reception we got from the owners was very warm. We got two of their Lagniappe Specials: the Bayou Classic Po Boy (shrimp and oysters) and the Zeek Po Boy (catfish, shrimp, and potato salad.) Both come with a side and drinks. We got greens and Bean Balaya (half Jambalaya half Red Beans.) All were excellent! The seafood was fresh and cooked expertly. They do not use pork in any of their dishes but their use of chicken and turkey sausages and other spices made everything taste authentic to their New Orleans roots. Will come back again and again!
The best Orleans food outside of Nor'leans. Incredible service and the food fantastic! Try everything we did.
We really lucked out finding this gem. This is a restaurant with history. It has roots in New Orleans, and then existed in Marina Del Rey for years, but was forced to move. The food is everything you want in the style. The Maitre'd is a very personable and genuine gentleman, and the staff is attentive. Great experience!
love love love this place. I tried the shrimp and grits this time, and was of course not disappointed at all. Buttery, delish grits, with perfectly cooked and seasoned shrimp on top. Would always recommend.
Really nice owners, workers, and very good fresh food with a homemade quality. Atmosphere on the inside is amazing and for sure I will return one last time before I go to bootcamp!
Wow... just... wow. My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to eat on the way home and I wanted to go just from the reviews alone! I am sooo glad other people loved it here as much as we did because having dinner at Darrow's was the perfect way to end our night. The gumbo soooo flavorful, the cornbread cooked to perfection and the weirdest most awesome green horseradish sauce I've ever seen! The staff and even the other customers were so nice and friendly. That's actually how we saw the green horseradish sauce. We just had to ask and he gave us a container of one he didn't need. Glad we asked! I said, "Honey, THAT'S why they call it soul food!" It makes your soul feel good. Thank you Darrow's for a wonderful evening and a tasty supper
