Service was a bit slow, so we had more time to imbibe. The food was very good and they have a cool rooftop bar with heaters which would be great on a warm day. ?? See photos of the food.
Very good Italian restaurant. Expensive (as you would expect) but the food is excellent. As an Italian, I would like to have a bowl of grated cheese, preferably Parmesan, on every table. Other than that, everything was OK. NOTE: The house wine is not good. Choose one of the Italians.
Honestly, such a cute spot to grab a bite in Carmel. Rooftop deck with a few fire pits for when it's cold. Nothing super fancy, but the pizza and bruschetta were lovely and we arrived just in time for happy hour, which was a nice surprise. Service was friendly as well. A good spot to come with friends and enjoy a spring afternoon.
Food cold and servers terrible attitude. Sad as it is usually a go to place for our vacation.
Had dinner there on a Saturday night without reservations. We were not able to go upstairs to their patio but were able to sit at their bar and the bartender was excellent. Had dinner there and it was really exceptional. Their other unit in Carmel is Napoli's and it is fantastic as well
Really good food, really nice staff and perfect rooftop environment for dinner/nightout
Excellent high quality Italian food. Sat at the bar, i had chicken piccata and my husband had pasta Bolognese .. fantastic meal
We went to this restaurant for a birthday dinner for my husband. It was far from expectations. We ordered cocktails and an appetizer to start, expecting a relaxing time. We were asked to give our order for dinner. Before we ever saw our appetizer, we had entrees served! And only one of them was what we ordered. My husband’s meal was not what he ordered. Normally, we would have had wine with our meal, but with all the problems we decided to just eat and leave. Too bad with my entree—over cooked salmon and undercooked asparagus. I understand having vegetables al dente, but these were hard—so hard they were nearly impossible to cut. So, no appetizer, no wine, not the desired entrees and, because of this negative experience, we didnt even think about dessert. Will we return—no!
5 stars for the rooftop - the ambience and the sunset views! We enjoyed happy hour drinks and nibbles... red wine for him, bubbles for me. The cheese and salami plate was okay... the olives were the best part. There were two types of cheese and two types of meat - but the ratio was skewed towards the meat. Which meant less cheese for this vegetarian. The toasted bread was a nice touch. For a few reasons, it was disappointing to get water served in a plastic cup. Sustainability wise, the use of plastic needs to stop as approx. 9% is actually recycled (down-cycled to be more accurate). I'd hope that a place with cloth napkins would also consider the experience that comes with drinking from plastic... it sort of takes it down a notch. Please consider making the switch - I'm sure you'll also save money!
We dropped in for some late afternoon snacks and refreshers and enjoyed all the appetizers plus the limoncello cocktails. Vesuvio seems to be a larger restaurant than most in Carmel, and popular, making for enjoyable vibes. Service was good too, but the restaurant automatically adds 18% gratuity to all orders - this is a bit off a turn-off, as if we can't be trusted to add a suitable tip ourselves. So I doubt we will return - there are plenty of other great places in Carmel which don't give you that turn-off when the bill comes.
