Went here a couple weeks ago in the afternoon. Loved the ambiance and all the decorations (loved the spine of cow/goat at the host station, and other pictures/paintings).They had a lot of vegan and gluten free choices, so it was a plus for me and my friends.I had the pork cheeks mole, it was creamy and had a bit of warmth; but It did need salt and a tad more seasonings. The pork cheeks were very tender, and I liked the way they put the mole in a small ?, very cute.I did ordered escapeces on the sides to add a bit more flavor (and salt ) to the mole. I liked their house made corn tortillas. The drinks were a bit too sweet for my taste, but the flavor were there.A bit pricy, but understandable since its downtown Carmel.Would come back just for the ambiance alone, hopefully I'll get to try the vegan dishes.
We had the grasshoppers, queso, cultura mole, steak, and churo fondue. Grasshoppers are tangy, no bad. Queso was great! Cultura mole was really good, I enjoyed the orange slices. Steak was pretty basic, not flavored well but had a nice sauce that it was in. Churo fondue needed to be just the churo with more cinnamon and sugar, chocolate was overpowering.Service was pretty terrible for the first 90 mixtures of our 120 minute stay. Make sure you have plenty of time to kill and order 2 cocktails at a time ?
Great food and drinks!!! Mango ceviche, mushroom mole, Tres tacos. Pet friendly at the outside patio. Didn’t like the oatmilk flan tho
This restaurant was recommended by regular visitors of Carmel in our hotel. They were not wrong . This is a simple Mexican restaurant that serves great food. The salsa of roasted tomato that accompanied the chips was nicely spiced with green jalapeños. The three tacos dish was excellent . Really nice beef and pork taco’s with great salsa’s and nice fresh rice . Also dessert : churos with chocolate cocos dip was great. Really nice chocolate with a great hint of pepperness/ cinnamon in it .. Home made margaritas tasted great but were a bit overpriced at $16,- Service also great! Really friendly staff!
This review is overdue but heartfelt. Our evening at Cultura was perfect! I booked a table for 12 of us for my daughter's rehearsal dinner. Michael was so helpful. He suggested the perfect menu based on our likes. He also suggested booking a table instead of the entire room for our group, and thus saved us quite a bit of money. Even though there were other restaurant guests around us we felt that we were in our own private spot of the restaurant. The service was excellent. The staff was very efficient, friendly, and catered to our every need. The food was plentiful and delicious, as always. Thank you Cultura for a memorable evening!
Mole - anything
Nothing special at all. My rice was cold. They brought me more. Cold. Said sorry. Pork cheek mole was tasty. Would not return.
What a wonderful place! Loved the atmosphere and the cocktail options, but what really one me over was the fact that the chef had so many plant-based options. We were there during Culinary week and the chef's 3 course meal was entirely plant-based and entirely fantastic! Our favorite meal of our entire trip.
We tried the chapulines as a starter alongside our exciting cocktails. As there were 4 of us we opted for the full order, but if you are a chapuline-virgin I would recommend a half-order just for an experience. The tacos were pretty good. (rice and beans not great) The star among the items we ordered was the chicken enchiladas (very delicious). The mole was tasty but rather tiny. For dessert we tried the churros (inside under-cooked) and the oatmilk flan (tasty but not very creamy). The best of the dessert was not what we ordered but the tiny oaxacan hot chocolates we were gifted.
Portions sizes are small but enough. Really good and fresh tortillas. Extra order $ 0.5 each. Pork mole was delicious. Must have. At the end of the meal, we received tiny cups of oaxacan hot chocolate which was extremely tasty.
