Food was good, but menu selections limited. They were out of the seafood dish. There should be more small plates and sides to choose from.
Iâve been coming to Casanovas since the 80âs, with my parents, and have never had a bad experience. Unfortunately, this evening, seemed so different and left us so disappointed. Made reservations 5 days in advance, we are 2.5 hours awayâ¦and came specifically to dine at my favorite restaurant and have my favorite linguine! We were seated outside, the front of the restaurant, which was a new experience, with our 9 year old daughter. We soon realized, this is where the âdogâ families eat and children.. ok, whatever. Let me tell you though..dogs are favored and catered like royalty in this town.. so you just have to accept itâ¦.but, It was nothing weâd ever seen or experience before. Dogs are now children. But better treated! We waited probably 30 min to order, we were then told there were no pasta dishes available tonight( a Saturday night in August?) ⦠ok? So we came all the way here for the linguine seafood dish, that I love, and itâs not available. Ok.. well, Iâm sure I can find something else, which I did.. but My 9 year old will only eat pasta.. and since the pasta chef was out, they also could not boil any type of noodle. There was seriously no kid option available. So.. we had our initial drink⦠and left! All I can say isâ¦wow. Thereâs so many things I want to say.. but wonât. Just so disappointed.
We felt that the food and service were not commensurate with the prices charged. My husband ordered the dover sole and asked for them to go very lightly on the butter sauce, it came drenched. The apple tatin was cold instead of room temperature or warmed. We had to refill our own water glasses and wine glasses even though servers walked by multiple times. We also started with one server and ended with another one which probably addressed the lack of service.
Everything here was good to very good - didn't get to 5 stars because it just didn't rise to that level of food or service. Very expensive and would expect a 5 star experience and food for this price. That said - 4 stars feels right - very good all around just fell short of 5 stars. Wine list is amazing and we had a great wine recommendation from our server (not the sommelier). Thanks for a solid experience.
Casanovaâs never disappoints. Dined here countless times since the early 1990âs during the MotoGP and Superbike races at Laguna. Excellent wine selection, really great food - have to get the spinach gnocchi! We recommend to all of our friends and family.
Excellent food, ambiance, everything!!!
Our favorite restaurant in Carmel
The best restaurant in town! Dr. Hank
Enjoyed the atmosphere at Casanova. Friendly staff, fast service, delicious food.
Delightful meal! Food was excellent as was the service. I would have ordered the Dover sole dry though. There was too much butter on the plate. I prefer my food cleaner. The gnocchi was rich but fabulous. Wine pairing was perfect! A few bites of the cheesecake was the perfect end to the meal. I look forward to dining there again on my next visit to Carmel!
