Very lively bar . Great bartenders who are very helpful with suggestions. We had the tacos which were fantastic. One of the bartenders said they were the best in Carmel . My wife is from Mexico and she loved them as did I . Take the time to visit this pretty cool place.

I asked for a drink and they said they didn’t make them because they were tasteless and only meant to make people intoxicated. It discouraged me from drinking and made me feel like my drink preferences weren’t adequate. I homeslty reccomend other places a lot more than barmel.
After reading the reviews, I went there for dancing. Bartender stops me twice and asks me to dance somewhere else. Then DJ asks me to dance somewhere else. Then a girl comes to talk to me about business, and bartender comes and asks her if everything's okay while we are simply having a conversation. Then I wanted to get a drink and the bar was so crowded that after 20 minutes I just lost hope and left. I have been to lots of bars in different cities and states. I go dance every weekend. Trust me, this was a bad experience.To complete my review after a few months: While I did not have a good experience in my first visit, but the staff tried to improve my experience later and I appreciate that. Overall, a lot of local people like Barmel and enjoy their time there.
This place is a little bit hard to find, but worth the journey. This is a great addition to Carmel, as they are the only late night place if you want to hang out somewhere without having to go to Monterey. The bartender was attentive and knowledgeable, and the drinks were amazing. We will definitely come here again.

Great place for drinks. Hidden away and not easy to find the first time. Didn't eat there although some I visited with enjoyed the food. Live music some nights of the week.
