I ordered the quintessential old time diner fare - a cheeseburger and a chocolate malt. The shake was so good that I asked the server to box the burger and fries, because I knew that I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. I had part of the burger and fries when I returned to my hotel room. Service was fast and efficient, the decor delightful, and I will probably return again before I leave Carlsbad. I shall take the memory of the nostalgic diner with me when I return to Florida. Great experience!
Ruby's sold my wife a $50.00 Gift Certificate and she gave it to me for my Birthday. I was SO excited! - because I loved Ruby's. But when we ate here then tried to use it - they REFUSED to accept it! I complained but no working it it out with manager. He even CHARGED US for the meal! I tried to contact Ruby's corporate multiple times...but they have IGNORED ME completely. So I filed a COMPLAINT though the Better Business Bureau....and so they even IGNORED the BBB! Despicable...SHAME ON RUBY's for CHEATING customers and blowing off the BBB....DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY. :(
Maybe it is because I'm Italian but this restaurant was like being in an old American movie. The food was good, one of the best burgers I tried in my trip.
I enjoyed the dinner experience but to be honest not sure it's the authentic one ?. Every thing is greasy, fat and super tasty and keep in mind that almost every dish is 1000 calories minimum so make sure it's salads for the rest of day
Excellent food you get a lot for what you pay for.
Great diner experience. Nostalgic feel from the 50s and 60s. Good food. I had the patty melt and I recommend it. Service was good. They have breakfast too. I think their French toast is good.
Ideal breakfast diner. Friendly staff, never-ending decent coffee, well-executed dinner food. Excited to become a regular.
Great Cobb Burger and Oreo malt! Patio seating was great. Jesus was fabulous. Great shopping near by too. Would definitely come back.
STAY AWAY. 5 year old birthday.. Visibly dirty, no music, not welcoming, no candle for birthday, tried to give only one paper hat when there were multiple kids.. Multiple food items "not available". when asked why no music "I just work here" was the response. This place is awful. Then in the middle of our meal, our nephew points out a dead bugs in the glass next to my head. Clearly it had been there awhile. This place is disgusting. Without doubt one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. The place was in shambles. They had chairs still on tables at 7:00 pm and never took them down. I had been coming to Ruby's my entire childhood so when our nephew turned 5 we decided it would be fun. This is a Ruby's located 5 min from Legoland. It should be absolutely packed with kids/ customers from Legoland. Whoever is handling this place should be ashamed. DO NOT GO HERE. Photo of dead bugs attached.
The food was really good.We ate outside and the little birds were entertaining us.It's nice that the Ruby's doesn't get rid of them.I recommend it.
