This place is a scam!! You either have to install an app to order (that signs you up for a subscription to take you money) or order from the very rude bartender. Walked away.
Pleasantly surprised by the food quality! Primarily a brewery, their small menu really rocks! I had the fish and chips, which at first glance looked like frozen patties from a local grocery, but were fresh and flavorful from the first but. Would get them again. Then there is thier slaw, which I could eat by the bucket! Its chunky and sweet, and perfectly paired with the fish. I also ordered the beer pretzels and the sweet horseradish sauce that came with it was a-number-one! Others at the table tried the grass-fed Burger and the ribeye. Both looked incredibly delicious and by the time we left, their plates were clean and they were highly satisfied. I also sampled a number of their beers in flights. I can't say I had a bad one in the bunch. I highly recommend "Frank the Dank" and "Aurora Hoppyallis" as two of the more tasty beers. I'm only taking away a star because of the 30 minutes we had to wait for a table. Once inside, it appeared to us that at least two-thirds of the tables in the restaurant unoccupied. It seemed to us as though there was no reason to put us on hold for 30 minutes other than to sell us beer and make us wait. That said, I would go there again for the food and the beer , knowing I am probably going to have to wait for no reason to eventually get it.
Wonderful as always. You can count on a good meal and a good time whenever you visit Karl Strauss Brewery. This place has been a long time standing MUST DO experience for anyone visiting San Diego. The beautiful drive in Carlsbad is enticing and upon arriving you have the chance to view the gorgeous Palisades Resort opposite to the Legoland California Adventure park. If you happen to be enjoying a Legoland vacation, make sure you mamas and papa stop by Karl Strauss Brewery for a convenient, and comfortable dining experience. Wander around the outdoor seating area, lounge in one of their colorful Adirondack chairs or sit by the high top table fire pit while you throw back a bottle or glass of that icy cold small batch craft beer. Only here in sunny SoCal, where the off shore sea breeze meets the miso glazed ahi poke bowls can you expect this kind of joy, relaxation, and wonderful uplifting atmosphere.
We were staying next door at Grand Pacific and stopped by for Sunday breakfast. We love Karl’s for dinner and beers, breakfast was a disaster. My yogurt and granola was a package of Chobani and a tiny cup of granola. Eggs were brown at the edges, maybe from a steam table? The only great item was the sausage gravy, which helped the eggs. Better to close for breakfast and keep the reputation intact. Did not go back for dinner due to the awful breakfast experience.
Excellent beer and excellent food! Super close to the flower fields so we stopped for lunch. The food was great, I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, wife had the fish tacos, and kiddos shared a cheeseburger. The beer was great! The fire table outside was nice to help survive the moon-like temperatures of San Diego where it is molten hot in the sun and freezing in the shade.
I had food Door-Dashed to my hotel while we were sitting in traffic on the way back. I got the Mesquite Chicken sandwich, fries, and sweet potato fries. Though the ride to the hotel took a bit longer than expected and the food was no longer hot (by no fault of anyone), it was still delicious. The flavors of the sandwich toppings tasted so good together, and both types of fries had unique seasonings and didn't even require the included ketchup packets. Would definitely recommend eating here!
We were staying at the hotel across the street so ordered takeout. The food was great, online ordering and pickup were smooth.
Outstanding food and beer selection, with great customer service! We stayed at the hotel nearby, and ate here a few times over the week. We also hosted a pre-wedding gathering that they were kind enough to let us take over the front patio for a couple of hours. Highly recommended! Rachel and AJ go the extra distance to make sure their customers are happy.
Waits, lines, find your own table, wait in line for another round. Guard your seltzer.Had to wait outside with a pager from the start. When we were paged after waiting for 15 minutes, we were then allowed inside where you have to wait in line to order your food and drinks. That line took about 10 minutes, then we had to wait for our drinks to be poured and to be cashed out, which took another couple of minutes. Easily 30 minutes into the experience by now for the 6 of us.Once we were handed a number, we had to find a table that was free. It was busy, and there were only 2 tables left available in the restaurant. They were outside under heaters that did not work. No wonder they were available. The staff was nice and quickly put together a table for us after another 5 minutes or so, unfortunately, it was next to a door to the outside patio that was propped open. It was 42 degrees tonight.Food was good, 1 dish wasn't hot, but it came in a reasonable amount of time. I went to buy another round of drinks, that took another 10 minutes of me standing in line while my party laughed and told stories.Staff came to clear the old plates, and accidentally took one of the seltzers that I paid for thinking it was an extra water glass. He apologized, then replaced it with a sample sized drink instead of another full sized drink. We were tired of waiting in lines so we left.Food was good, experience of a very busy and higher priced Rubios. If this was my first time visiting, I might give it a better rating, however, I was used to having servers and assigned tables. I miss that Karl Strauss.
I've eaten at a lot of breweries due to the fact I travel so much for work. This place was by far one of the best places of I've ever eaten at regardless of whether it was a brewery or not.I was pleasantly greeted by Keera who also promptly took my food and drink order. Her and the rest of the staff checked on me the exact right amount of times and all were quite friendly. The pork chops were delicious and did not take long to get.Their selection of beverages was amazing and the few I tried were delicious. My only complaint is that there are not more of these places around the country for me to dine at.Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to return!
