We usually do lunch at Hooked On Sushi, but it's been awhile since we've been here. Glad to see the food is still good!?The dining area/areas have seen all sorts of configurations in the past, due to San Diego County rules, re: COVID-19. We just visited, on 6/22/2022, and you currently enter the restaurant thru a door into what was the secondary dining room. The dining area where the Sushi Bar was located, is now closed, due to construction. Also, at one time, they had an outdoor dining area, covered by a tent, but this is no longer here.My wife & I both like their California Rolls. We spread on a healthy bit of Wasabi, then top them with pickled ginger. What you now have is an improved bite, with a little heat from the Wasabi, plus extra flavor from the ginger. We also love their Chicken Teriyaki, thin strips of tender chicken, covered in their tasty teriyaki sauce. Another thing we order is their Tempura, either Mixed Tempura, with light, crispy-battered veggies, & 2 large fried shrimp, or Vegetable Tempura, which has that same unforgettable crispy batter, covering pieces of zucchini, broccoli, butternut squash, green beans & sweet potato.Good eats here. This place will be better, comfort & aesthetics-wise, once constructionis finished. The current dining room they use, is fairly small for my taste, & when people start coughing inside here, which several were, I begin to feel uncomfortable. Maybe that's just my COVID phobia thing, however.
Reasonably priced sushi & great service. We had a California Roll and another roll with crab in it. Good soup and salad too on the combo. Crab wasn't the freshest, but satisfactory. Place was clean and environment was comfortable. 50-50 on whether or not we will go here again. Perhaps we will try different sushi rolls. Definitely worth a try if you are in the mood for sushi and haven't been before.
We could choose where we wanted to sit, and our food came out SO fast!!! this place is our new favorite ?
Went here for the first time tonight with my gal pals, the food was delish and the service was great- we had the homeless roll and the north coast roll, both very tasty
Yummy sashimi place! Hard to find this kind of restaurant in the area. Very satisfied.
Not a long wait for a table. Food was good, but a little over priced. Family friendly restaurant.
I went here for lunch and had their mixed tempura appetizer. It was very good with exception to a couple of the vegetables. The zucchini tempura in particular was quite soggy. Other than that I would have given it 5 stars
Yes,yes,yes,yes and a million times yes! This was an awesome sushi spot with reasonable prices and great parking in Carlsbad. The fish was fresh and I throughly enjoyed their sashimi and bento box. Everything was affordable and they even had pickled wasabi. Our hostess was kind. The only downside was that I couldn't trade out the California roll for a tuna roll even though I offered to pay. The lunch special was awesome.
I’ve eaten sushi here at least a dozen times and it’s always money well spent.
