Mexican at its best After a full day of travel, we scouted this highly rated Mexican treasure and it didn't disappoint! The margaritas, tacos and burritos were fresh, tasty and plentiful! The service was top shelf!
We went here with another couple. Requested outdoor seating and got that it was a beautiful day! Our server Jose C was great! He speaks with a strong Mexican accent so you have to be on your toes. He made us laugh several times! The guacamole was delicious! And the cheese queso was outstanding! Everyone really enjoyed what they ordered and we had plenty to take with us as well!
The food was good, the service was a bit slow, the portions were huge. The fried ice cream for dessert was very good.
I love this place! Remembering the old location in Old Town, but this Carlsbad location is still super fun. It's really really big and despite the huge number of patrons the food always comes out hot and delicious. The service is always super friendly, and of course the margaritas are massive.We had the chicken fajitas and shrimp tacos
Well, I would really like to give this place a 5⭐️ Review. However, I just can’t justify anything more than 2⭐️ when the food comes out barely warm. Verde Cheese enchilada and Chile relleno have a great flavor, however the cheese is solid in both items.My mom ordered a burrito, and it was just warm as well.My sister ordered Gluten Free tacos & enchiladas, but they brought her regular. Our waiter resubmitted the order, and her plate came out steaming hot.So, while the flavor was good, the food wasn’t made to order, and it did not come out hot.One extra star for the drinks.
We had dined at this restaurant during our last visit to the area five years ago, and thoroughly enjoyed it, so we decided to return. We arrived at 8:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. Our server was clearly tired, and she leaned against the wall while taking our order. We ordered their basic margarita, which was lacking in both tequila and flavor. We ordered the queso dip with chorizo as an appetizer. The dominant flavor in the dip was flour, not cheese or chorizo. I mentioned to our server that the queso was very "floury," and her only response was, "Is it?" as she walked away. The salsa was bland and watery. Our entrees were just okay, nothing special. Our server returned while we were still eating what was edible and asked if we were ready for some fried ice cream. We can't believe this place is still rated the top Mexican restaurant in Carlsbad. Sad.
Fantastic Mexican food! Wonderful atmosphere. Lots of outdoor seating options. Lovely wait staff. You will love this restaurant if you like traditional Mexican cuisine.
