Walking along the display cases, peering into rows of sweet desserts and pastries, savory bread stuff, and beautifully decorated cakes and cookies, I made an immediate selection when I saw the apricot peeking out of the crusty Kouign Amann. The friendly servers were quick and organized, I was holding my delectable treat very quickly. With the many salads, soups, prepared and custom sandwiches, and entrées, this place is an one-stop for everything for either lunch or dinner. The Kouign Amann had the best layers of baked pastry, crusty layers outside, sweet apricot inside, and a savory pastry. It goes great with roasted dark coffee with blue skies in a sunny afternoon in Capitola California. I found everything SWEET & SCRUMPTIOUS … at Gayle’s Bakery & Rosticceria, Capitola

This was one healthy and “sweet tooth” pleasing experience that truly deserves the stars for the food and bakery quality & verity, business model, service, overall dining. From the moment you enter you get a guidance of pick a number which will get called by personal assistant, who will walk you through the store to pick your food and combine an order with proper recommendations based on your needs. You will also have an option to pick and choose any freshly baked bakery or cakes. Make sure to order that cup of freshly brewed perfect roast coffee.Get outside and pick your seat at the table previously cleaned (sanitized) and notified by the post on the table.Freshness of the food is so unique, you can taste the difference of each ingredient, be it kale, brussel sprouts, soup of the day or any of the freshly baked goods.Has an excellent coffee roast and three refills for the regular blend.Pick your food, drinks, bakes and table with the street view and enjoy! Was here the first time and will definitely be back for more.THANK YOU, Gayle’ Team!

Excellent pastries. Chicken salad croissant tasted fresh and not soggy. First time visiting here. The line/ticket system went by quickly. Ate ham and cheese croissants, garlic twist, strawberry cream cheese danish, bear claw, almond croissant and grilled chicken tomato pasta sitting outside the bench. Fully satisfied and not stuffed. A must-visit spot if you are in the area.

Great quick service. I would return for the princess cake for sure. The croissant and bear claw were decent but definitely better after throwing them in the broiler at home. Lemonade was good for a lemonade lover per my friend.

One of the major reasons to plan a trip to Pismo. Ha ha! Can't believe we finally made it to this bakery. Worth all the wait! They have a unique token system where in you're required to grab a token at the entrance and wait for your number to be called. We didn't know that and walked right past it and wasted 10 mins admiring everything in the bakery and walking around only to realize that we didn't have a token number. The crowd was huge for a weekday and rigtly so. They have a cute patio attached to bakery for people to dine in.Once we got a number, it took about 15 mins for it to be called upon (such was the crowd). We ordered their carrot cake slice, old fashioned cinnamon roll and the amazing pecan schnecken. The schnecken was one of the best ones I've ever eaten - Crisp, Caramel-ly and Fresh. Also got a latte and drip coffee which were excellent! Can't wait to go back and try their turnovers.

I need to update my review today after what must be the most moronic encounter i could have expected at Gayle's Bakery where I was to leave the store because my Bandana does not meet the masking requirements of this Restaurant! What was absurd was that 2 feet away from me were folks sitting completely unmasked eating their food! We had ordered an Eclair, 2 Sandwiches and Garlic Bread to go! I was just waiting to pay!The fact remains that if I had decided to EAT that food, the VIRUS apparently would have taken a break and the Genius Manager would not be required to order me out!!It's a shame but I won't be coming back. This is one of our favorite spots on our way to Carmel or Monterey. Gayle pastries are fresh, well made and filing. Another favorite of my daughter is their Garlic Bread which she loves with pre-packaged Salad. I also like their sandwiches which are neatly packaged. As for to go orders, do NOT miss the Raspberry Napoleon was a huge hit at home with morning Coffee.

From the deli counter offerings to the delectable pastries and baked goods, you can't go wrong. A hot cup of joe along with any of the sweets is a treat. It's a healthy walk up from the beach or you can stop in on the drive out of town (or both!), either way it's a piece of Capitola you won't want to miss.

We have come here for year and have been happy with service and food. But today I had a moronic encounter here where I was to leave the store because my Bandana does not meet the masking requirements of this Restaurant!!! What was absurd was that 2 feet away from me were folks sitting completely unmasked eating their food! We had ordered an Éclair, 2 Sandwiches and Garlic Bread to go! I was just waiting to pay! The fact remains that if I had decided to EAT that food, the VIRUS apparently would have taken a break and the Genius Manager would not be required to order me out!!

Came for pastries, stayed for dinner as everything else was booked at the peak of Thanksgiving weekend. The food is reasonably good but somewhat pricey for a takeout. We liked tomato & rice soup.

Very cozy bakery close to the beach. This was pretty much the only one open for Breakfast in the area on Thanksgiving. We had scrambled egg Croissant, chicken salad croissant, fried egg sandwich, bear claw and Raspberry Napoleon Tart. All the items were excellent. Croissant was very fluffy and the Tart was delicious.
