Food was ok. Its a pretty basic Italien. Nothing special. Prices are super high. The steak was made perfectly. Salad was nice.
Stella Alpina has consistently great Italian food and great service. If you're looking for a great wine to try, try the Turley. The truffle gnocchi, the spaghetti and meatballs, the veal parm and the lasagna were all a big hit with my family. You should definitely go!
Pretty yummy. I didn't take pictures. My date and I polished off a bottle of Italian wine. The gnocchi was outstanding.
There were some nice charms to my dining here. Thankfully the temperature had dropped from around 90 the day before to 70 the evening I dined here since I had a lovely al fresco table on a lovely but cool evening. My server was very good and my martini was very good. The antipasto platter was nice with a generous amount of prosciutto and salami and nice cheese and olives. I ordered the special of the night which was a seafood ravioli and also got a side of brussel sprouts. I intended to finish my martini and then order some wine to go with my meal. But no kidding: in well under 5 minutes of my ordering my entree and side, it was delivered. What's more, the entree was upon delivery at best lukewarm. I did order a glass of wine next time the server came around but I could either wait for my wine and have cold ravioli or eat first. The wine arrived when I was about 2/3rds finished and by then, the food was almost cold. It tasted good but it was never close to nice and hot. And the $12 side of brussel sprouts lacked all seasoning and were slightly undercooked. The menu said they were cooked in balsamic vinegar--not a shrinking violet of an ingredient--but if these sprouts had been anywhere near balsamic, they hid it well. I did get the bourbon bread pudding for dessert and it was actually hot and good. But honestly: if I want fast food, I know where to go. Why rush a customer along like this and then serve food that seemed like it sat too long before getting to the table and was bland? I had the feeling my entree had been plated long before I ordered it because how else could it have come in just a few minutes and then still have been anything but nice and hot?
Our last night in San Francisco we ate here. Authentic Italian dishes. Delicious food! Their pasta was the perfect al dente texture
This is one of my top 5 restaurants in the entire US. The truffle gnocchi is incredible, portion sizes are fantastic, and the neighborhood provides a perfect ambience.
Excellent food from appetizer to dessert! The service was exceptional. I went there for a private party for work. The room was private but also had plenty of windows so it didn't feel like a cave. The service was great and the food arrived just as we were finished with the previous course but not too early - I didn't feel rushed. The gnocchi was to die for and the eggplant parmesan was notable for its excellent tomato sauce as it was simple but flavorful. All around, a great experience and I'll definitely go back.
Very cozy atmosphere. Service was excellent. Food was authentic and delicious. Portions were just right.
Nice place downtown with good menu, good wine and friendly staff. Starter, main course, dinner and drinks are excellent and the atmosphere is just great!
Food was good. My Valentine’s Day date company even better.
