Here we are in the entertainment capitol of the world, and yet Lancer's is a perfect, down-home, family restaurant! I was raised in the South where cozy, welcoming, well-known cafes and restaurants are the epitome of Small Town South, USA, so I felt right at home eating at Lancer's. The service was very prompt and courteous. Someone came by to refill my water and coffee quite often. The menu was broad and full of options, from "comfort food" to more healthy, but still delicious options! I ordered the Real Crab Omelet and they were not lying about the Real Crab part! There were chunks of real crab in my omelet, not the imitation kind! The coffee was great, and the dessert even better (I had the apply pie). Did I mention the omelet came with hash browns and pancakes? I got away with all of this (some in a take home box) for around $30! The atmosphere was very friendly and warm and gives a feel of familiarity that I've been missing since moving out to California. I will certainly be back to Lancer's again and suggest you give them a try if you are around!
Been to this spot twice while waiting to go in to work. A nice, family friendly diner. The people here are nice. It's usually busy on weekends. I have had their Monte Cristo sandwich and the Texas scramble weekend eye opener. The monte cristo is a double decker sandwich with ham, turkey, swiss cheese, and powdered sugar on top of the toast. This sandwich is perfectly stacked and holds well while eating. The toast is nice and fluffy, which is hard to get with other places. A very delicious sandwich for anytime of the days. The Texas scramble is 3 scrambled eggs, topped with chili and cheese, served with hash browns and toast. The chili cheese eggs was a nice combo, very good and cheesy and paired perfectly with a nice toast. The hash browns was a disappointment as they were undercooked. With hash browns I look for that brown crisp look to it, but these were white as a ghost and not very appealing, nor was the taste. I will definitely frequent this spot again. I want to try the Cinnamon swirled honey nut french toast.
*Update* as per the owner response to this review, asked me to bring in the receipt because I was over charged. I brought the receipt in and said there is nothing we can do for a refund.$21.00 for a single waffle with fresh strawberries. Ordered the waffle with fresh strawberries instead of the strawberry puree. The waffle was $9.99 and the fresh strawberries were $10.99. If you want hashbrown potatoes that's other $5.99. Everything is that is extra is $5.99. You can get a better tasting breakfast at McDonald's
Bring your appetite. I selected pancakes as a side with my meal. This is ridiculous... they were great and deserved a larger overall role in the festivities. Everyone at the table tried a bite, too. Also, good to know there are multiple rooms in the restaurant. We enjoyed being in the busiest room, but when I went looking for the loo, I found a quiet room, and two guys enjoying a quiet breakfast convo in the bar, all alone.
You know… if you are excited by the thought of a litre of mimosa for $15 then this is the place for you. The meals are American style (enormous portions) and pleasant, if not haute cuisine. Things that made this not 4 stars. 1 the Bloody Mary was OTT on the horseradish, and the takeout came in styrofoam ?.
I stopped by here maybe 6 or so years ago. And decided not to go in after sitting in my car and assessing the customers going in. We’re all one color and retired looking. Me POC past middle aged. Wondering if I would feel comfortable eating here. So recently I said I’ll try, after holding the door for a gentleman with his walker going in. I was seated quickly, attended quickly with a menu and drinks and ordered breakfast the lumberjack, basic pancakes eggs meat breakfast. Sausage was a little pink on one end. The ham was a watery canned ham entirely to salty. But the pancakes were a good moist texture, and eggs were cooked easy like I asked for. Cleanliness was on point. Busboy, waiter, and either owner or manager all checked in to see if everything was ok. I would try other things on the menu if I came back. Btw there poc staff all conscientious from the host and all around. They remembered their regulars. I won’t be because it’s just not locale to me. But I would be if it were closer. Enjoy the picture of my messy plate for your viewing pleasure !?
Old school diner in Burbank. Been wanting to come here for quite some time now and today, my wife and I made it happen. My wife and I both love our order: she got the corned beef hash and I had the Paul Bunyan Omelette. My oh my!!!! I almost didn't finish my food, but I toughed it out and left the restaurant with a really full tummy. I definitely recommend the place!
Plenty of food at reasonable prices. Went twice, once for lunch and next for breakfast. Service was very good. Manager even came by each table to check on customers. No problem with refills on water, tea, and coffee. Food was good.
Got the meatloaf special and it was absolutely scrumptious and filling, came with a salad and a sundae. Are you kidding me? Me and my boyfriend talk about this place all the time and will definitely be back. We’re not in the senior category either. Love this diner, definitely stop in and check out a special
