Saddens me to give this low a score to a place my family and I used to love. We havn't been to this Buena Park location in a long time but it was our favorite until Sunday. Showed up to order a pound of meat and some bread rolls. Right away I could tell the quality was not the same as I remembered. The place looked dingy. The two teenage girls were cordial but by no mean inviting. I had to use the restroom and when I went inside, I wanted to turn back around. I have seen cleaner gas station bathrooms. The walls were dirty, the floor looked gross and the toilet seat ?? looked like it hadn't been scrubbed inside or out in months. This location has definitely lost its luster. So glad my kids didn't come with us, they would have been so disappointed to see how bad this location looked. On the positive the meat was still good but I am hesitant to return, if they could leave the bathroom and store in such disrepair, how diligent can they be when it comes to storing the food....glad we didn't order sides.
I was disappointed, as the place was empty, other than a few people waiting for takeout orders. The guy taking the orders and keying them on the register spoke too softly to hear, and got 2 of our 3 orders wrong, as we got mac & cheese instead of what we ordered. He did fix mine, but my shy friend didn't speak up, so didn't know it was wrong until we left. The place didn't seem in good shape (ice & soft serve ice cream were down), and was a l little dirty I noticed.I will not likely visit this location again.
Spent $26 for a two meat with two sides meal and a small drink at the Buena Park Mall location. Food was totally over cooked, could even eat the green beans. The ribs bones were so over cooked they crumbled couldn't even tell they were bone until it went into my mouth. The only decent thing was the side of bread and fries. Never ordering from here again. By the looks of the place its not going to be there much longer.
Im celiac and they put bread right on top of my food. My bad that I didn't check before I left so it was $23 worth of BBQ straight into the trash. I've never been anywhere that they did that. Usually there's some paper or foil between the bread and the BBQ to keep the bread from being ruined on your trip home, but not here. If there had been then I could have probably been ok eating it but what a waste!
Honestly, I'm pretty confused by the interaction I had today.Went over to Dickey's for lunch, or, at least, I tried to. I looked at menu and tried to order a Kielbasa Sandwich with a small Mac and Cheese.I'm looking at the menu, and it looks like 15 bucks at the most. Give or take a dollar. Sure, a little pricy, but I wanted a kielbasa sandwich, that sounded really good.First off, the cashier and chef have a small discussion whether or not they have Kielbasa. And that was fine, no worries there, they took about a minute or so to give me an answer, no worries, but the transaction, that's what got my attention....38 bucks? What? I was so confused and I was worried the cashier didn't understand what I wanted or something. So I respond saying something like, " For a keilbasa sandwich and a small mac and cheese, are you sure?"The cashier then tells me he'll throw in a discount, and that takes a minute or so. He then lowers the price to 30.I go on to say, "Dude, I just wanted a keilbasa sandwich. The menu says it's like 9.50. Why is your price so high?"The cashier then says something about the menu not being up to date.Honestly, I don't know if it was me or him. I'm kinda worried I just wasn't clear about what I wanted or the price for a keilbasa sandwich just went sky high as of late?I think it might've been a communication problem? Maybe? I mean, I was wearing a mask, we were pretty far from each other. I don't know, he repeated my order back to me though, if I remember correctly.Anyways, left after that. Was not going to spend 30 bucks on lunch for just me.
I went on Super bowl Sunday to get a pulled pork sandwich for my daughter. They looked closed, but they were offering a limited menu. I ordered a bbq pulled pork sandwich & a medium fry, (which turned out to be about 2 pounds of fries !!) Everything tasted AWESOME !! Their drink machine wasn't working. But I had crushed ice at home, so I was able to get room temperature root beer from the machine and take it home. When they r working at 100%they r simply fabulous.Everything still was unbelievably great with them hardly open !! ?
The beans were spilled all over order. There was a Big chunk of fat in brisket. Food was very cold. I wanted to speak with someone in charge but there was no one to talk to. The girl who answered phone gave me a number to text. I have not heard from anyone as of yet. We will not order from this establishment again. Very expensive for what we got. Horrible!
Not as good as they use to be.They had no ice for drinks. Ran out of onion rings and my pulled pork was dry. My husband's brisket was very tasty. Maybe just a bad day. Will try again.
The briskets here are as good as any Dickey’s, but since this is the only location near me, I haven’t had it in a while.Well before the shipping crisis started, I noticed that they were out of pretty much every side over an hour before closing. I bet they don’t even have meat half the time nowadays. Also, the time I tried ordering on the Dickey’s app, they didn’t receive the order. I guess I should have been a little more vigilant, seeing as their app looks like a website from the late 1990s.The reason I ordered on the app is because they don’t have a useable menu in the store. There’s nothing plastered on the wall behind the counter, and there aren’t any paper menus. All they have is a computer monitor that scrolls through popular items like a screen saver. (This too looks eerily like a late 90s website.)The real thing that irked me, however, was back at one of the 2020 Covid peaks, waiting in the bathroom line behind someone who was clearly coughing her lungs out in the toilet, then seeing that person walk out wearing a Dickey’s uniform. The only thing that prevented me from writing this review at the time was being concerned that she was face retribution for my words rather than the manager who let her (or forced her to) be there. The only thing earning the second star is the few employees who seemed to have a general understanding of how bad their workplace sucked having politely helped me through it.For the time being, I am going to try to learn to love Hawaiian BBQ, as those are their only nearby competitors.
I haven't been here since pre-COVID, and I was really craving it. I was so disappointed. The menu is extremely limited now. We paid $40 for 2 1-meat plates, that included the meat of your choice plus 2 sides and a dinner roll, plus 2 small drinks. So, right off the bat, way too expensive. My mother ordered a piece of Texas toast, and was told that they didn't have any, and that the plate came with a dinner roll...BUT they could swap out the dinner roll for a piece of the Texas toast....which they just told her they didn't have any!! My mom also ordered the BBQ chicken, which came sliced. Then while we were eating, another group of ladies came in and asked if they had chicken, the staff told her they didn't have any of that either. We were so confused! We told them we were dining in, but they brought the food to our table completely tied up in a to-go bag. We had to sit there and unpack it all so we could eat. The food itself was "ok"...not terrible, but not great, and lukewarm at best. Not ONE of the items were hot. If we WERE going to take it home, it would have been cold by the time we got it to the car. Dickey's has a great reputation, and the last time I was there, it was amazing. My mom had never eaten there before, so I was really hoping for a much better experience. Unfortunately, between the experience and the lackluster food, we won't be returning. The one star I gave was for the Mac n Cheese and the Baked Potato Casserole. They were both good, even though they were barely warm. I normally don't give bad reviews, but I feel this one was warranted.
