Not sure why this restaurant doesn't have a higher rating! My fiancé and I came here for our engagement dinner and it was outstanding. The view was incredible. I ordered moscato and the chicken teriyaki and both were excellent. My fiancé ordered cabernet sauvignon and chicken alfredo and he enjoyed both. We are glad we chose this restaurant for such a special event in our lives! I also want to say the staff and waiter we had went above and beyond for us. Thank you, Pines at Lakefront for such a wonderful evening!!
I was very impressed with this place. It has nice views of the lake, plenty of parking, and even a nice location for that pretty sunset shot. The ambiance wasn't too private, but they do have nice big booths that are raised, and can easily accommodate large parties. I tried the bacon wrapped scallops and they were so so good. We also tried the Avocado shrimp, which was good, but not fascinating. Every dish was plated beautifully, and the soups and salads were delicious. The bar is nice, it's a full bar, and the bartender makes good cocktails. I found the wine menu a little over priced for what was on hand, but hey Biden is more to blame then them. I was a little disappointed on the duck breast, it was very small for the price, all other dishes were large and delicious.
Good place to watch the sunset.Service was a little questionable at times, but it was good. I would consider it a "nice" restaurant but not a "fine dining", service should've been sharper & more attentive (I was stacking my dishes, when instead of chatting it up in the back, 1 of the 5 people I saw could've come to clear)Bacon Wrap Scallops were delicious! I was trying to figure out the sauce (tasted like a demi sauce but not at the same time) I enjoyed the extra crispy bacon & the sweet, tenderness of the Scallops.Steamed artichoke was a disappointment. Looks good but it was bland!! The butter wasn't helping it & neither was the Dijon aioli.1/2 Rack N.Z Lamb now that was delicious! I questioned it when it came out only because it didn't have a texture I'm used to seeing on lamb. But the meat was so tender & not gamey.
The staff is really welcoming, polite and also attentive. There was really no one around the time my family went. It was quiet and very slow but the service was great and the food was good. The micheladas were delicious.
Loved this fine dining restaurant on the lake - BEST French onion soup I've ever had....Even better than I've had in France!
We have been here often, but had an especially lovely Valentines experience. Good food, truly gracious service, and so nice to go at sunset overlooking the lake.
Great place, good food! We got the rack of lamb, cooked medium well and the clam pasta. Both were amazing! Try their dolce de leche cheese cake ♡
Had a lunch here. The food was good, but the service was slow.
We had the best experience at The Pines. This is our first time here from WI and we were greeted by Jake. He was professional, welcoming and also funny. Very likable. He seated us right away and our bread and drinks came out within seconds. We were looking for a nice spot to take a photo to capture my husband's 40th birthday. Jake guided us and even offer to take our photo. Let's say he is also a professional photographer. LOL.Our food came out with 15-20 minutes of us placing an order. I had the Black Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna, it was delicious. Cooked perfectly. Super soft. The side sauce was also amazing. Wished there was a little more of it. My husband had the special meat platter; duck, venison, wild boar and Elk. The wild boar was my favorite. It was very tender and had the best sauce. At the end Jake came back with a peanut butter cake and went the extra mile to add happy 40th around the plate for my husband. We were so pleased and amazed with his exceptional customer service. It definitely made this our best restaurant experience ever! I would recommend the Pines to anyone who comes to Big Bear Lake.
We had a dinner for a memorial service with 30 people here and they did a great job making sure we were all taken care of. Sunset views can't be beat !
