First time trying SUGARFISH as recommended by a colleague and it was utterly delicious. Don’t expect a traditional purist sushi omakase joint, instead quite the opposite. Sushi and rolls were BIG on flavour and I especially like the seasoned rice and the use of ginger and pickles in the dishes. Fish is also extremely fresh served along nice ice cold beers. Atmosphere of restaurant is very relaxed and service team was great.
Came here on recommendation but this was disappointing. Fish was decently fresh but the rice was long grain, was too warm and fell apart when picked up. Sushi rice should be short grain, packed properly and slightly above room temperature. The sauce was a bit too strong and overpowering, it distracted from the taste of the fish. The wasabi is also not freshly grated. I guess for the price point, it is just... okay
Came here with local friends who swears this is very good. We ordered the "trust me", and salmon egg.The salmon egg had a slight smokey flavor to it while at the right saltiness level. I liked it.The sushi came in waves of small dishes of 4 pieces a time. I don't know why they wet the bottom of sushi with dark vinegar, but this causes the rice to fall apart when you pick up the sushi, and ruins the experience.The other thing I found very iffy is the extreme darkness of the place. The overhead lights barely illuminate! I wonder if they do this intentionally to prevent you from spotting issues with the fish. In any case, extremely soporific and a bit too "intimate" for me.
Love this place! I would really not order the set menu. The albacore underbelly is truly phenomenal and a must. The crab hand-rolls is also a favorite as well as the salmon. Always so good
Anyone who knows sushi in LA knows that Sugarfish is pretty spectacular. The fish is always delicious, the warm rice melts in your mouth and the seaweed on the hand rolls is crispy crispy crispy. This place should be called "all about the fish" because that's what it's like.I like that their menu is set prices with service included. Actually wish that was the case at more restaurants.Sugarfish is all over LA. And this one in Beverly Hills is nice. It was really slow when we went, so that, I guess is why service was really slow. It took nearly 2 hours for our meal and check....despite only a few people dining. Thus the downgrade in rating. The food is almost always a 5, and in downtown and other locations the service is fast. Guess BH is just mellow these days.If you like good food (at a reasonable price) then this will definitely appeal to you.
The restaurant has been open in studio city since 1987 and serves its delicious pre fix menus and they’re really good and not that expensive to be in Beverly Hills.
Fantastic customer service. Sushi was very fresh and tasted amazing. I got the "Trust Me" and I had a wonderful experience. My favorite was the tuna sashimi - Best I've ever had!
We did the Omakase in the back at the sushi bar. Reserve well in advance. Some of (if not the best) sushi I have ever experienced. Chef was joyful and fun, in addition to be an incredible Japanese sushi chef!!!! A must go!!
One of my favourite spots to grab sushi to go as well as grab a quick meal! The fish is always fresh and the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality. Staff is also always extremely friendly here!It is a popular spot so prepared to wait. However you check in online and the queue is managed digitally so you can always walk around Beverly Hills while you wait.
This restaurant is my first choice restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I never miss an opportunity to go to that place. Whenever I feel like having a superb dinner, this is the place that comes first to my mind. good and all sorts of food and a large menu.generous crew, and good mood. Also important, the bill is fair. I sent my friends to this place with great pleasure.
