I've been to Vik's a couple of times. It's always been very tasty and delicious. The photos are from a lunch I had in May 2022. And then from a dinner the day before Thanksgiving 2021 that could have gone wrong! After ordering, they called to tell us that they closed before we were to pick up our order. Since we had ordered a couple of individual meals, they offered to package it like they would family dinners! Great! We ended up getting more food than we thought. It was all very delicious. When I'm in Berkeley, I always stop there to buy Indian staples from the shop.

Decent Indian food!Went there for lunch on a Saturday. You have to order food at the counter and wait for your name to be called to pick up your food.We ordered Chole Batura, Pani Puri, Gobi Paratha and Pav Bhaji. I liked Chole Batura amongst all. Pani Puri and Gobi Parath were mediocre. Pav Bhaji was decent.Portion sizes were decent. They have ample amount of space for indoor and outdoor seating. It’s self-serve so you to clean your table after yourself.

If you are looking for a great Indian food, this is THE place. You have to download the app and order it which is really annoying for me because I am old and I don't like to have to download apps constantly to be able to order food from each restaurant. (You do this a lot in the bay area. Not many places left that you can order food from a real person.) While you are waiting for your food, you can shop at their giant grocery. There are tons and tons of spices, and good quality products. Food is delicious. Right now there are about 30 seats outdoor. The dining seats are still closed after Covid.

My son is a recent transplant to the Bay area. A work associate of his recommended Vik's for authentic Indian food. We were looking to be a little adventurous when in town visiting him a couple of weeks ago and went there. The food was well prepared, delicious, varied, very reasonably priced. It is very casual, and customers seat themselves at picnic benches and pick up the food when called. They could be a little more on top of cleaning the tables, because you bus them yourselves. I now consider myself introduced to Indian food, and I'm coming back.

I’ve heard great things about this place and was excited to go. We arrived early (11:22am) to beat the crowd. I wanted to try everything, so I needed to contain myself a try a few things. We ordered 2 lunch specials — tandoori chicken for me, vegetarian for my husband. I was told the puri are a must—so we ordered the pani puri. I have a soft spot in my heart for the samosa chutney and rasmalai. The samosa chutney and rasmalai didn’t disappoint. Samosa chutney was flavorful and had a nice balance of heat—a favorite! The rasmalai had delicate tones of the rose water that paired nicely with the spongy cake. It was a bit sweet but that’s to be expected.Unfortunately, the pani puri was stale. We brought it to the attention of a team member but we’re told all they had was from that batch. The lunch specials were underwhelming and overpriced, in my opinion. The menu and website indicated that the meal came with raita or papad. When my husband inquired we were told they no longer include that but could be purchased. All in all, I am glad I had an opportunity to try this place but sadly I will not be returning. There are so many other Indian restaurants to try in the Bay Area.

Vick’s chaat is a Berkeley favorite. They have some really good items and some okay ones. The Aalu parantha is delicious, and the sweet and sour lemon pickle that comes with it is out of this world. However I was very underwhelmed with the quality and quantity of the pani puri chaat and the pav bhaaji. The mango lassi was ok. Given the prices and long wait times, I was hoping they would really deliver but sadly that wasn’t the case for me. The meat is halal so that’s a plus. What I really liked was their grocery store which had such an amazing variety of desi sweets, snacks and spices. They also have their own brand and I’m keen to try some of their items. I’ve also heard the items like Chhola bhatura and some other North Indian items are good. Will need to wait till my next visit.

Went here for lunch after a lot of contemplation. I was surprised to see a shop from one of the entrances.Ordered and then had to wait for about 10 minutes. Food came packed in to-go like tiffin boxes. We ordered the Chicken Korma Thali, Vegetable Thali, Dahi Puri, Rose Lassi, Mango Lassi and Kulfi Falooda. Chicken korma was just okay and it came with one roti, pickle and Chana curry. The pickle was a highlight. The veggie thali had Saag Paneer, Chana curry. Paneer was tasty! The Dahi Puri was just okay. The lassi's were also just okay. Falooda Kulfi was special too.All in all, the food was tasty with the caveat that it was a tad bit costly than most Chaat places. Might come back for more.

Giving 1 star for the use of compostable plates and paper bag- no compostable bin though!!!Absolute rubbish food, no flavor, no quality ingredients. Cheese Dosa for kids has some spray cheese which was outright rejected by kids! $18 for those cheese dosas that kids couldn’t eat past first bite. Chole bhature were cold, and had sweet chutney in chole. Green chutney was bad. Over priced for the quality of food. No tables were clean and had to request many times for a table to be cleaned while two employees roamed about doing nothing.Would not recommend this place if you want Indian food. Probably the worst Indian food in entire Bay Area- for food and service.

Great Indian food. Get the fish when it's on the menu. The samosas are tasty. Chaat of course is a must

Prices are shockingly high, food is mediocre. You can't see the price of the mango lassi when you're standing in front of the register, but be aware it's $6.50 for a tiny, tiny cup. Yes, that's a regular sized teaspoon in the photo.
