One of the better burritos I've had in the bay area! Their steak is really juicy and is cut into big pieces. Ask for their really hot sauce (I think it's habanero). It's delicious. And they include homemade chips with your order (hard to come by in the bay). Also saw they have some $10 lunch specials like 2 tacos with rice and beans that seem like good options. Will be back!! Thank you Taqueria Talavera :)).They are super authentic and their baked goods looked delicious. Tons of options. YUMM ?
Great restaurant and nice decor they are located slightly uphill in Berkeley/Albany. My boyfriend and I ordered chicken burritos and they were delicious. When ordering they ask if everything that is included on the burrito is okay which I like and hand you a number. So once its ready it will be brought out to you. The burrito is a good size and an order of chips to enjoy. There is seating available inside or outside with nice decor offered and cleaned tables for the next use to guests.
After having a couple of bad experiences I spoke to the owner and have had nothing but positive experiences since.3-09-22I stand corrected I have gone there or attempted to go there the last three times and have never even been able to get an order or pick my order up. They don't seem to be very confident about running efficiently the business when they get busy. For a simple order like a single burrito it will take 20 minutes not very organized also the spicy salsa has got huge chunks of onion and Chili's that are not very easy to put on a burrito or a taco.If they can figure out how to be efficient and quick I would give them a 4 out of five
Mole was delicious but the chicken was so dry. $17 for a plate —- so that was a bummer. Pork is the other option besides chicken —- maybe try that instead and see if it’s worth it.
Good tacos, nice people..Horchata too sweet, pork too salty, and can barely see or taste the cheese on the enchiladas or chile rellanos. Good rellanos, but had to add cheese to everything when I got home. Sauce for enchiladas wierd tasting. Only ate half. A go for tacos though. $$$$
Taqueria Talavera serves great authentic Mexi(Cali) food, along with equally good Mexican food. Their burritos are delicious, especially their chicken which is fresh and seasoned perfectly. Their guacamole is chunky and zesty, everything guacamole should be (although it's been quite expensive recently, just as it has all across California due to the avocado shortage.) Their burritos are huge, which should at least provide a meal and a half for most people, if not two meals. Their chips are seasoned well although they tend to be oily, but they don't matter as much to my final decision. Talavera is decorated beautifully, with cool tiles, posters, and flags out front. Their menu is large yet easy to understand, and highly customizable. Pricing is decent. One burrito is $13 which is reasonable given the portion size. Their horchata is rich and flavorful, which I recommend trying if you don't mind spending an extra $5. The staff are chill and helpful, and their Covid protocols are excellent. Great experience every time I come here!
This place is culturally fire. The layout of the indoor area is not easily accessible but one the you get your order in at the register it is easy to find your way. The strawberry margarita is the best I have had, I loved that they had real strawberry in there. I had the shrimp burrito and it only had three big prawns in there, it was still delicious just wish it had more prawns.
Great food, nice, cool bottle of water with the meal, friendly staff and outdoor seating. We had two chicken Street tacos and a big fish taco with chips and guacamole. It's was plenty of food for the two of us!
I live in Oregon and visiting family in El Cerrito. This is the best Mexican food I've had since my last trip to Mexico. The machaca scramble, plátanos, and tamarindo michelada were fantastic. The staff were really warm and friendly to our big group with kids, too. Voy a volver!
Flavorful entrees. Quite busy. Long wait.
