This corner restaurant in the Arts District of downtown Berkeley is great for pre-theater dinner. We ate on the early side before a 7pm concert and had our choice of tables. It was filling in as we left though, it is a popular spot. The drinks are strong, the main courses well balanced and tasty and the cheesecake for dessert was a great finish. The owner came to each table and chatted for a bit, a nice touch. We would certainly return and experience Happy Hour and the menu attached to it.

Food and cocktails were excellent. Our server was very friendly. Our only complaint was the timing of the food arrival. We ordered an appetizer the same time as our drinks expecting it would be served the same time as the drinks. We ordered the rest of the meal when our drinks arrived. However, the salad arrived before the appetizer. So we shared out the salad and started eating it, then the appetizer arrived but our appetizer plates were full of salad. While we were trying to eat both the salad and appetizer, our main course pizza arrived. So we were stuck with 3 dishes on a tiny table and having to deal with eating them all at once instead of in the normal sequence of appetizer, then salad, then main course. Also, espresso and cappuccino should have been served with spoons and sugar, but weren’t.

Interesting food choices and each dish unique and yummy! Fresh oysters superb salads and entrees of pasta with shrimp and the ribs were perfectly prepared. Service was exemplary and knowledgeable. Great for pre show at the Freight

The food is excellent, both visually and taste-wise. There is also an emphasis on healthy, organic offerings. The staff is great - they act as a team and look out for all tables. Great!

We were seated promptly, our server was cordial; the sirloin tip was delicious but the vegan paella was disappointing. The dish was almost entirely rice with a sprinkling of vegetables on top. The warm bread and the goat cheese appetizer were very good. The noise level was excruciating and having a dinner conversation was almost impossible without raising your voice.

Food was delicious!

Food was good not great but a good meal, salads really good, main dishes okay. It’s a little noisy but a fun lively place with good service and works really well before going to theater in the neighborhood. We’ll come again.

Excellent food cooked quite well. Very good wine list.
