We have been eating here for years, and were happy to be able to eat outdoors (what they call "dine-in") during the pandemic. But "dine-in" really meant take out -- in plastic containers, with plastic utensils -- brought to your table. What a horrendous amount of garbage we generated at out last meal there! I will not go back until the kitchen serves on washable plates, with washable cutlery!!
Always a great meal here!!! I've been coming for years and never disapointed. Parking lot on across the street and plenty on the street if that's full.
Was looking forward to some tasty fish tacos and we were sorely disappointed. $16 for three lifeless, tasteless tacos. One small chunk of uninspired fish in each taco and the taco itself tasted like wet cardboard. Only the optional extra mango salsa gave it any flavor. No cheese on the side of beans, no extra salsa. Overall this is over-priced for bland, tasteless food...never will we return.
The shrimp tacos were a huge disappointment. The shrimp were neither beer battered or fried. And, the corn tortilla was rubbery and cold.
I wanted to like the place even more because I enjoyed both the recommendations of friends who had eaten there for years and I also especially appreciated the forthright responses that the owner provided to various reviews that he had received, especially the negative or poor reviews showed a classy, respectful, and open to learning and improving attitude that usually indicates a good business.So, first let me say that the food was all good, we had fish tacos, quesadillas, Carnitas, and of course guacamole and chips.What was less than appealing was having to eat in a makeshift sheltered outdoor space sitting essentially on a parking lot with plastic tenting all around and above us. Several of the heaters weren't working so we shivered a bit but got through it. Experience also included using a large amount of plastic and cardboard, much of which I doubt gets recycled since it couldn't be cleaned easily. Basically it felt like eating from a food truck but these were certainly not food truck prices. I appreciate that there are many additional costs to having set up outside while they remodel and I empathize with their desire to remain open, continue serving their clientele, and yet the service was surly and not particularly helpful. You place your own order and then you go wait for it to be delivered to you. There is no other service. Yet they still give you an opportunity to pay a service charge upfront when you order your food. Of course I did since I am a custom to tipping servers but I did not at that time know that there would be no servers other than the person giving me my bags of food.I think it might be worth warning people in advance so they know what they're getting into when they are expecting a restaurant experience.
The legumbres burrito and salsa options were incredible (& almost too much for one sitting, and i'm not complaining). Fantastic, delicious food, tons of (outdoor, tented) seating nearby, a unique drive up service for takeout, but really it's about the burritos ?
This is the best food I have ever had.Been here 50 + timesFood is always top notch and super greatIf you don't like the thing you order the first time then get something and you will love it.I'm 13 and you know the food is good when a young kid says it's good (cause i'm pretty picky).
Great selection and high-quality meats. And really good guacamole. Also the chips are strips. Very helpful for scooping salsa and guacamole!
The BEST nachos! Make sure to order super nachos if you want crema and guacamole. I love that the beans come on the bottom and their tortilla chips are thick and crunchy! Don't forget to ask for chipotle salsa on the side. You'll be happy you ordered this.
We used to love this place and came on a regular basis for over a decade. First time coming back since Covid. They now have only outdoor seating. Order by kiosk now is a pain. Before they used to have the food out in less than 5-10 mins. It took over 40 mins before we got our food. Two other parties who came in 20 mins behind us got their food, finished and left before we got our food. When the food came, some items were missing, two dishes were actually cold, and our $15 soup that used to be serve in a large bowl was a small side container instead of a large which was ridiculous.With three kids in tow and how long we had to wait, the quality of the food, don’t think we’d come back again… at least not until they go back to indoor dining.
