Usually this Peet’s has really friendly and competent workers, not this morning. The cashier wouldn’t make eye contact, they messed up my drink (one guy is clearly training, not a big deal) and when I waited for about 15 minutes before someone made eye contact with me, I told them it didn’t taste like it normally does (as a nice way of saying they made it wrong). She offered to remake it and then told the guy training something like “she didn’t like the way it tasted” in a way that made it seem like I didn’t know what the drink was supposed to taste like and that I was being ridiculous. I’ve had this a million times from Peet’s and I don’t feel like I asked in a rude way. It’s a Saturday morning so it was busy but come on, the least you can do is admit you made the drink wrong and not act like it’s the customer being crazy.
Been drinking Peet's coffee as far back as when Mr. Peet was behind the counter and not only could you smell the great coffee brewing but also the intoxicating aroma of coffee beans roasting. Like any good thing bought out by deep pockets (see Cody's Books, Andronico's Market) some is missing in the translation. But you would have to be pretty negligent to screw up Peet's.
Where it all began. Happy to have gotten yummy coffee here and will definitely do it again.
I had a delicious maple walnut scone and the really tasty cold brew black tie (or something like that, I can't remember the name :-) ), sat outside, enjoyed the food, drink, and weather... What's not to like? Will be back!
This is the original Peet's coffee location. Cool memorabilia inside and great coffee.
Too bad now it takes almost 15 to 20 minutes to get a cup of drip coffee because of all the cell phone and mobile orders ahead of you otherwise the best coffee in the world
A basic, solid brew. Dependable as the sunrise and as welcome as that hour of day. Clean, neat, respectable.
What can I say about the place that revolutionized coffee in America? So let me point one thing about: it happened in Berkeley. Not San Francisco, not Palo Alto. Not Los Angeles or New York or Boston or Atlanta. Coffee may have been born elsewhere, but it lives in Berkeley.
og peets, friendly staff!
First peet’s ever! Nice that there is something special about the location other than the usual bomb coffee and tea.
