We love Masse’s! They did a great job with our wedding cake! Marsha and her husband were so flexible and kind, really great to work with! We got a seasonal black currant cake and it was beautiful!

Paul the baker owner is the sweetest and best. Everything is delicious and beautiful. BUT——his wife is the extreme opposite. She decides who she likes and dislikes. I have been a customer for10 years and have ordered many exceptional cakes. On day one she decided to not deal with me and would ask her husband to take my order. The last two times she yelled at me in front of other customers. Today I was in line to pick up a cake and wanted to buy a croissant also. She couldn’t be bothered and helped the person behind me. I was embarrassed but feel sorry for Paul

Guava cheesecake and the mango one are amazingly delicious ?

Amazing, family-owned bakery. I've been going here for over fifteen years, and have never been disappointed by the quality or presentation of pastries, cakes, or tarts, or the friendliness of its employees and owners. A real labor of love from a devoted team to its customers and to the art of baking.

I bought various cookies and each one was more splendid than the other. The king of the bunch was the shortbread style cookie with hazelnuts and an apricot filling. It perfectly combined crunch, softness, sweet, salt and tangy fruit flavor. I look forward to trying their cakes when I return to Berkeley.

Beautiful gluten free cakes and confections. This place has become my new default for gluten free birthday cake.

I am really shocked at how a simple question over the phone was answered with such a negative and unhospitable manner, whoever answered the call was extremely rude and upon answering my question felt the need to go on and tell me what I was asking for I could do myself, I was referred to this bakery by a coworker so I am not familiar with it and thought a call would be the best way to find out if what I wanted was possible, I am fine with them not offering what I am looking for because business is business and what they offer is what they offer, but the customer service I received has guaranteed I will never buy anything from this establishment.

Don't even think about it just for for the mango cake, it is beautiful, fluffy, light and absolutely delicious.

What was once an artisan patisserie has lost its magic. I recently happened to be in the neighborhood and visited Masse’s, a place I frequented in my college years. To my disappointment, the woman who worked there was quite rude and didn’t care to explain the cakes and their flavors. I ended up purchasing 2 small cakes - a pistachio raspberry mousse and hazelnut chocolate cake, both were lackluster. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be back. So much of food culture is the experience and imbibing the passion and creativity of the artisan. That’s what makes Berkeley food scene special.

Average pastries. Flavors of small pastries are generic and resemble big box bake goods, generic. Too pricey for what it is.Good and friendly service.
