I was so looking forward to this place since I heard really nice recommendations from my friend. I tried to make a reservation but couldn’t reach them. We went there and put our name in waitlist. We were told it’s about 45min wait. However we actually ended up waiting 2 hours! Maybe due to limited seats outside (we have a dog so need to sit outside), but just be aware their estimate can be way off.We ordered a pancake with bacon and egg; and a omelette with whole wheat bread and home fries. Unfortunately the pancake was dry, the poached pears was delicious though. The omelette was normal. What I liked the most was actually the home fries and their butter - their butter was so soft and creamy, delicious with the bread. They don’t have dog menu but we ordered bacon and egg without seasoning for our dog so it worked.
Food: 3/5Service: 3.5/5Ambiance 3.5/5Overall: This place was packed and there was a slight wait for some standard fare food. The extended review…Food:Gingerbread Pancakes – 3/5 – I’ve been to a few places where I could compare the taste. The taste of the pancake was subtle and could have used a little more punch to it. Definitely could have used a little more pear as well.Bacon – 3.5/5 – A good serving of bacon and I appreciate that it was not crispy but chewy!Service: 3.5/5 – Friendly and attentive service.Ambiance: 3.5/5 – So this place was very cute inside and out. The only thing I’d say is that the inside was a little claustrophobic. Thankfully we sat outside in the patio which was very nice.
This was my third time dine in. I had good memories with this restaurant before. I went at 9:55 am on Sat. I was told to wait 5-10 min for a outdoor table. Ended up waited 30 min which is understable. There were in total 4 heaters outside next to tables but two of them weren't working and it was 51 degree outside. Ordered two tea pots (Earl grey and english breakfast). We were told that each tea pot can serve 2-3 cups. But they got us two cups of tea with a tea bag inside instead of two separate tea pots. And told us that they ran out of the tea pots. Basically they charged us the same price for a cup of tea when it was for 3 cups. Other than these tissues I had, foods were good. I really liked the vibe and the outdoor setting with tasty foods before but I don't think it is worth of waiting anymore. Foods are still good but the quality of service went down.
This is my all time favorite brunch place in the whole Bay Area. Ive been coming here for 8 years and their food quality is consistently amazing! I always get their cote est with creme fraiche pancakes and i highly recommend it. The waits are long tho so grab a coffee somewhere and wait
siempre una excelente experiencia
Cozy little place for great brunch! We went there for Saturday brunch. There was a 20 minute wait but the service was quick and so good! There's both indoor and outdoor seating.Mocha is to die for- easily one of the best I had in the Bay area. the potato and carmelized onion omelette was bland to my taste but still good!
Always fresh and delicious. French-inspired brunch offerings always made to perfection. Coffee drinks are delicious and you can even add champagne or a cocktail. Arrive early, or get on the wait list. Beverages and comfortable seating are available next door. You can expect to wait 20-40 minutes and you will need ID and proof of vaccination. This is one of the best places to eat in Berkeley.
First arriving at La Note early on a Saturday morning I noticed a large line-up of awards along the interior wall. Hmmm...could this be true? Yes it is! I have always been skeptical of French cuisine suspecting it was 90% hype, but La Note has changed me for the better. The pan de chocolate and the sour cream coffee cake were divine; there was very little sharing offered by my fellow diner. My emmental cheese omelet floated off the plate, the hand cut breakfast potatoes were the 2nd best ever tasted. Cappacino readily available. Decor is decidedly funky with a beat up spinet piano sharing space with tightly packed tables and elements of Provencal decorations. By the time we left at about 9:30 am there was already a line forming at the front door, so get there early to enjoy the attention of the very goth and charming waiter in a relaxed vibe. Lines don't lie!
The service was super slow, we waited the food to be served like for 40min. Their outdoor table seating is very closely set up, so i felt like I was sitting together with the group next to our table… definitely worst outdoor patio setting Ive been to. Also the heater wasn’t properly working when we were dining. I used to like their brunch but dont think ill come back for awhile.
Nice place in downtown Berkeley. The food was very good, good coffee. Nice menu options. Pleasant interior. Had a great time.
