I have being eating at this restaurant for over twenty years starting at the SF location. I had my wedding catered by this restaurant. It’s in my dna. Last night my wife and I cleverer our wedding anniversary and went her for a lovely dinner. We got the mezze plate that had chicken, lamb, falafel, hummus, taboleh and other things. It was in point! We had wine to go with it. Perfect!
This dish is pomegranate chicken and it's life changing!! It's a must stop if within 100 miles!!
The atmosphere is very alluring. The service is very friendly. I sampled three appetizers and two main dishes. I highly recommend the Mediterranean platter. The food had a lot of flavor. The rice in the stuffed grape leaves could have been cooked longer and was rather coarse. And their falafel was slightly dry. But overall the experience was wonderful and I will definitely go back.
Fantastic food and friendly staff! The meat is perfectly tender and juicy, and the pastries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. We loved every single item on our dishes!
Tasty Mediterranean dishes that look beautiful and provide distinctive and engaging flavors. The rose water pudding is a fun one for dessert. The flavor is particularly outstanding. If you're sharing, just be mindful not to scoop up most of the pistachio pieces on top if you're the first one getting a spoonful. I made that mistake by mindlessly digging in like a glutton. That's not sharing now is it? Maybe next time I'll just buy one for myself to avoid that problem. I do indeed love dessert that much. It's a little on the sweet side though so that's another fact to consider if you prefer something with less sugar. The sweetness does not overpower the flavor but compliments it in a fun and interesting way. I would say that overall, the level of sweetness is moderate at the least to moderately high at best.
We hate to lower our reviews on LA med Because it's one of our favorites for years. But the cleanliness of the woman's bathroom sort of was a bummer. On a brighter side the food and service was always excellent.
Beloved Berkeley old-school Mediterranean spot serving classic Mediterranean dishes, Falafel, hummus, combination plates, lamb, and they have a nice wine selection there. My family used to go their way back in the day, and I was happy to see that they are still here thriving, and that they still make a great lamb plate
Overall we had a very enjoyable experience at La Mediterranee. We were able to walk in on Friday evening and get a table, which was great cuz we were both pretty hungry. We ended up getting the Meza plates to share, which gave us the opportunity to try a lot of different things on the menu. Most of the food was very good to excellent: the chicken legs were tender and delicious, the hummus and baba ganoush were fantastic and the falafel were also very good. The two fillo were both pretty dry. The dolmas were good but not great. I liked the tabouleh but my wife did not. The mint tea was tasty, but my wife wasn’t a fan of the wines or the presentation (cheap glassware).
La Mediterranee is a staple in Elmwood. Delicious middle eastern food, especially the Mezze platters are great. Fast and friendly sercice. Indoor and outdoor seating (with heat lamps).
Great middle eastern food! Service is a little hit and miss. Maybe that is just the universe telling us to take a moment to savor these delicious bites and a glass of wine. This is worth the trip for sure. Enjoy!
