Great food. I had never actually been inside until today and oh my gosh it’s very obvious this place is an institution! The history and all the pictures on the wall, places like these are very important to preserve. Definitely spend your money here and enjoy the wonderful food and the history. It made me feel nostalgic of my childhood. Also, get the flour tortilla chips if you can!
I live in San Pablo and go to Berkeley for their Verde sauce and their chile relleno . It's got that Juarez Mexico type taste . And they make a great mole gravy too similar to how they do in El Paso and New Albuquerque . They have great customer service and all the 12 yrs I've gone my order and the experience has been on point if not superb . I give this place a 10 star ⭐
Food was superb. 2 Chicken Enchiladas with Rice and Beans.
Super low-key, clean, friendly place to eat or have a beer at their cozy bar.Food is delicious and portions are very considerate.Friendly staff.
I was visiting California and came here wity my family. The Chips and Salsa were amazing providing both Corn Chips and Flour Chips. I had the Flautas one corn and one flour and both were textured in a lovely way and tasted delicious. The sizes well justify the prices and we came home with plenty of leftovers. If you want awesome mexican food this is the place!
This is homestyle Mexican food - all the sauces taste like they've been simmering for hours with everything melding together. If you're looking for something with really bright colors, this might not be your spot, but what it does it does very, very well
My husband and I had a late lunch with the family here. We were with our 92 year old grandfather and preferred to sit outdoors, the staff and the family at Juan’s was super accommodating and made us genuinely feel like we were part of the family! Great service, but most importantly, INCREDIBLE Mexican food! Best Mexican around Berkley!!
I found this delightful dining establishment when it turned dark as I was walking & my cell phone went dead. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly & directed to a table with an electrical outlet for phone charging ( luckily I had stashed my charger in my bag). I was immediately given cold water to drink, along with delicious cl chips and two types of salsa.Everyone serving me, from the host at the front desk, to the cooks in the back, to the waiter, exceeded expectations. My Chicken Nachos and Chicken Burrito Dinner were excellent and the salsas hit the spot. The restrooms were clean & smelled fresh. When my Lyft ride appeared more quickly than anticipated, my food was efficiently wrapped as takeout. The manager quickly alerted my Lyft driver that I would be just a few moments and I left with arms laden with delectable food for additional meals.I enjoyed my meal so much that I purchased $50 in Gift Certificates so that others could discover this gem of a Mexican Restaurant. I hope you will stop in and sample a variety of their tantalizing cuisine. My only regret is that I don't live nearby to make this my regular hang-out spot. This is definitely a Mexican restaurant you want to visit often!!
A local treasure! Good, plain Mexican food and cool posters.
This little jem is not fancy and not fussy... except the food and service is fantastic. They serve wine margaritas which is different but just as easy to enjoy. This isauthentic Mexican food without the fanfare. The burritos are MASSIVE and homemade tortillas light and yummy. A fantastic value and excellent local eatery.
