Consistently great, adding new photos. Stopped by for a buffet lunch. Food was very good, especially the chicken tikka Marsala, chicken curry and the garlic naan. Recommended.
I absolutely love Jot Mahal. It was painful at first as they are in the same location as beloved Cha Am, but I am glad I finally tried them because now I am a regular. The lunch buffet is fantastic in both quality and price, and dinner menu is great as well. While I still miss Cha Am I am grateful they were replaced but such a wonderful restaurant!
heard the place offers really good indian food from korean community so walked across campus even though I live south side! I ordered shrimp tikka masala for to go, and the food was so good so I returned the next day again lol The owner was also so nice and the service was good too! I've lived around berkeley for so long but only used to get food near south side bc I was lazy.. def would come this place more and also would try lunch buffet with my friends later
The only Indian Buffet open in Oakland/Berkeley!! 8 rotating dishes. 2 vegan, 1 vegetarian, rice, pakoras and a couple dishes w/ animal flesh. (See pictures for extra details, taken at end of buffet) vegetarian desserts including gulab, kheer/halwa & soft-serve ice cream.I filled up on the daal, saag, rice & salad. Very tasty fried potato pakoras!!Total for me, water to drink, w tip was $20. They ask u to only have 2 plates, so u must organize ur plates well to fully load up. I left stuffed and grateful! More vegan options plz and more salad fixings like cucumber! Thank youCame back 2 days later it was so f'n good! This time they had different (V) options. Probably different everything, but I honestly only look at my food???. Spicy eggplant and peas as well as channa masala
Good $15 lunch buffet, 3 veg, 3 chicken dishes, rice, pakora, desserts include vanilla and chocolate ice cream. Fresh naan. Nothing bad, nothing amazing.
Great food, and the owner is very friendly! The chicken tikka masala and chana masala are amazing, literally some of the best I've ever had in the US. The naan can be slightly burnt sometimes, but that's somewhat expected.
Went for lunch buffet. Food was all cold. Even when they brought out refill pots and pans that seemed to be steaming, it would be cold after it was placed in the buffet tray. They do provide fresh naan which was yummy. Their food was flavorful but couldn’t be enjoyed much since it was all cold. When they brought replacements, only that one dish would maybe be warm. They had an unclear two plates per person policy so it was hard to have variety and have the food be at least warm (they didn’t replace the full buffet with hot food all at once at any point).
I have been looking for a great Indian restaurant to eat at for a long time. I wish I had found this place sooner, when I lived closer.Everything was cooked extremely well, very flavorful, and without a long wait. The atmosphere was comfortable and very welcoming. My daughter and I were able to enjoy sharing some laughs and some good games of go fish while eating. This is a must enjoy restaurant. I will be making this a regular in my rotation of family owned/run restaurants.
Food was delicious. It’s not a fancy restaurant, however, everything was very good. I even ate too much so good it was.
We went in for the buffet lunch on a Sunday. This place has VERY AVERAGE tasting food.If you are a fan of real authentic Indian food, look somewhere else. I can understand that they are catering to the public and toning down the spice level. But for all the foodies out there who love spicy (and tasty) food, this place will let you down.Their saving grace was the relatively decent Gulab Jamun in the sweet dishes.
