In the 4-Way Combination the Chicken was hard.dry, over-cooked and the bone in the leg was broken. The Ribs were tough, very dry and hard! The Green Bean are super salty! There is too much fat on the beef, more fat than beef. No one will answer the phone so I was unable to report this food that is not only unappetizing, but also inedible! Everett and Jones on San Pablo and University, Berkeley, CA , I know you can do better!

I want to like E&J. I reaaaaally want to like E&J. As a Texas-transplant, I grew up going to barbecue joints like this, and from reading reviews, they delivered on that potential in years past. This is my second try here, and was disappointed again. The Good: beef links are genuinely very good. If I had to order again, I would get a sandwich or plate with just that. The sauce is also quite good (I had the medium tonight). The Bad: the chicken, brisket, potato salad and macaroni would all benefit from more serious seasoning before and throughout the cooking process. I'm all about keeping it simple, so some salt, pepper, and onion powder is all you really need. Potato salad could use some mustard or vinegar or pickles on top of that. Mac could use a sharper cheese. Could all use a LOT less sauce - I'd prefer to add the sauce on the side. The Ugly: the cut of the brisket went with the grain, turning something that could be moist and tender into something chewy and hard to eat. This is an easy fix that will be a huge improvement.I hope that E&J is able to see these reviews and improve! I would love to see more high-quality bbq in the Bay!

Premium prices for low end food. Don’t let the delicious smell outside trick you, the BBQ just isn’t that good. The brisket, chicken, and mac & cheese were bland, and the peach cobbler was made with canned peaches, which is as surprising as it is tasteless. While we were ordering, one of the workers behind the counter was biting and smacking his lips at my daughter, nonchalantly checking her out. It was obvious. It was gross. She asked for three pairs of silverware for our order and he told her “nah honey, you don’t need all that.”

No bang for your buck! This food just barely tastes ok. The sides and peach cobbler taste like they’ve been in the fridge a day too long. Potato salad tasted like cardboard and the portion size is terrible for what they charge. It’s a no for me!

I’m not understanding how you can be in the BBQ business so long without learning how to slice neat against the grain. That’s why your brisket is so tough and dry. This is “Meat Slicing 101”. Plus the Berkeley location never has all of the items on the menu. They’re either out of it, it isn’t ready or they claim they don’t serve that item at this location. I give them 2 stars bc their links are consistently good . ?

Always a friendly staff and portion sizes for the sides are fine, but the meat has gotten a lot fattier and a cheaper grade. Also, portion size is much smaller. They used to load the plate up!

I have never ever ever ever had a disgusting order from Evertte & Jones and I've been going to for many years. Perhaps it's just this location in Berkeley like I said it was disgusting. On May 9 2022 (Mother's Day) about 2pm my ticket# 30. I ordered a 2 way ribs & chicken with mac & cheese with green beans. Got back to home in Sacramento got ready to eat this meal I paid over $30 for it was totally wrong except some overcooked chicken & links & 2 scoops of potato salad. I should of realized something was wrong when it took over 10 min to call my # so I got what looked like the last of whatever. If I ever end up again going to this location I'll be sure that I will ask to view my order before I receive it.

Recently ordered the brisket. What I received was not like any brisket I've had before. It was tough and had more fat than meat. Didn't even cut like brisket. Clearly hadn't been prepared correctly. That now makes 3 straight bad experiences from one of my favorite BBQ places growing up. What happened to y'all!? Are we just not giving a [email protected]#$ anymore!? Shame on y'all, lost my business for good this time. Try Horn Barbeque for actual brisket.

Great, nice, helpful staff. The food was delicious and filling.

Picked up an order of bbq chicken with potato salad, beans and extra Mac& cheese for dinner. For $20, I had enough food for 2 big meals! I had my choice of sauce heat, which was good as I can’t do spicy. The staff was very friendly!
