I got conned by this place on DoorDash which has a ghost kitchen listing under the name VEGAN INDIA (4.0+ star rating there, of course). I ordered an aloo gobi and it was the dryest, most flavorless version of this dish I've ever had. Only after did I do some research and put it together that it's this place with terrible reviews.
Ordering instructions are confusing. After ordering in the self ordering machine, the guy kept asking me exactly what I wanted, and he had trouble understanding what I was saying. He got rude because he didn't understand what I ordered. They should check their ordering machine to make sure their get all the information that they need!
Very sour expired chutney, gobhi manchurian was covered in what was unmistakably ketchup, and everything was completely over priced. Do not waste your money here! You will be disappointed. I love South Indian food and have had it many times, many other places so please trust my credible review and don't go here.
The food here was so bad it's unethical they're trying to even serve people it. Got a few dishes, the medu vada, idli sambhar dinner, and gobhi manchurian. Supposed to be fried and fresh, it was all very dry and old tasting. The dipping sauces, which are an integral part of the meals, tasted gross and expired- the containers were puffed up with gas because they've been sitting too long. Totally disgusting and unedible. The manchurian cauliflower is basically just coated in ketchup, not a tasty spiced homemade sauce. Most of the meal was inedible, feel like I was taken advantage of and wasted 40$ on these 3 (very small portions) of food. Do yourself a favor and don't go here.
Went here because Punjabi Dhaba was closed. I was the first customer for the day as they had just opened the door. I was definitely given day old naan! The guy at the front was also giving me a hard time because I asked for a bit of red onions on the side of my meal (it's usually not a big deal at other Indian establishments).
There were rocks in my biryani. Luckily I've eaten enough biryani in my life that I was able to not break my teeth and get them out of my mouth easily. But there were literal stones in my biryani. These people do not wash their rice before using it. I found the bigger stone while rinsing my mouth.
I paid for a one entrée lunch and asked for it to be put in a single to go container (rather than the big floppy three compartment container that they usually use). The gentleman helping me said, “no problem,” then I guess his manager came over and refused to put the same food in a different container. They weren’t in a rush, I was the only person in the store and I wasn’t asking for more food, just a smaller container so I could eat on the go. I left without any food because the manager would not let the server help me with this small favor. Terrible management. This being said. I eat at the other Delhi Diner on Solano Avenue often and it is excellent with delicious food and great service.
The samosas have so much oil, I'm surprised the US hasn't invaded this place yet. Paav bhaji was 5/10. Those are the only things I tried there. I'm from Delhi and unfortunately the food here is subpar. I had high hopes though, but oh well.
Had the chicken curry & my girlfriend had the saag paneer. We both loved our meals and the naan + rice that came with. Would come again.
If you want good Indian food in Berkeley, never come to this place. They reuse their food, and everything is basically frozen or stale. It might have been a better experience if the owner wasn’t so rude. Make sure to count your change before you leave, they like to add “surcharges” as they see fit.
