I'll give this place 3 stars, 1 because it's nice inside, the second because I like that they have a huge menu and the 3rd because it's always very clean.During my most recent there was this great cashier very enthusiastic and knew the whole menu. I ordered some tacos and a papa, but once we got to the person that was preparing our food it was a little uncomfortable because there was this lady being mean to the young kind preparing the food.Overall, the food here is not bad. It's just not very tasty, it's bland even. I don't know what it is. It's really hit and miss but I have given them several chances.I'll go back soon and if the food tastes better my rating will reflect it accordingly.
I usually do not leave reviews unless it is really good or reat bad. Unfortunately, *CENSOR* this food gave me bad diarrhea. I hate half of a burrito inside the restaurant before getting in my uber and when I say the discomfort I felt was unheard of. I usually clean my meat and food throroughly and eat clean, barely eat fast food, so my stomach knows when something isn’t right. I am mad at myself for not reading the reviews before going since it was down the street from my house I thought I would go really quick. I was the only person in there at 3pm which was a red flag. The burrito had no flavor and i was irritated that they had NO green sauce. ?Not to mention the salsa was so watered down with no flavor. I have never had mexican food this bad. The diarrhea is all it takes for me to never come back. It really must not be sanitized. Never again.
Disappointed. The meat had no flavor.I ordered two asada tacos and an asada torta. The tacos tortilla was not good or warm. I bit in and literally tasted nothing. I had to ask for limes (gave me lemons) and that helped if you squeeze into the meat and eat the meat alone. The guac tasted like guac from a freezer that was thawed earlier, no flavor and runny (opposed to fresh and thick). The torta was just as bad. Had beans and even with that and the bread, still no flavor. Squeezed a bunch of lemon and ate the torta but did not eat the tacos. Meat was a tad chewy.Location is ok, decently clean, staff was nice and friendly.
Thought I give it another chance and it’s the last time I come here. Good people working but the outcome on the food kills it. Fresh tortillas are not that great either
Gave this spot a second chance, was shocked to see this place empty specially on a Friday night. Food was ok, they literally reheated the meat, so not freshly prepared tacos special for TJ style tacos. Another shocker were the prices a little high in my humble opinion. Ten bucks for a cheese quesadilla, not worth it. The positive is that they have beans and plenty of salsas available.
Tacos are good but not TJ tacos good. 7/10DON’T order a burrito. You get more meat in 2 tacos than a burrito. More like a tortilla full of rice and some very little meat. Sorry not sorry. I was very disappointed with the burrito
Not sure why the reviews are so bad. The style of taco calls for the type of meat that can be a bit chewy, but in my opinion, part of the TJ street taco experience. Flavors were on point, salsas were fire and service quick and friendly. Happy the place wasn’t too busy when we tried it. Had a different experience with service at the Whittier location when there was a line and their system was overwhelmed.I think the most under appreciated menu item is the asada burrito. Packed with meat and can easily feed two with a taco or two just in case. Also tried a few asada tacos which were really good. The adobada and birria were just ok and a pass for next time, but the consommé was pretty good. What’s going to keep me coming back is the salsas. The habanero was my fave due to heat, but green and chipotle were very tasty options. The mild red is a pass for me though. They also have free beans, grilled jalapeños and scallions, so make sure to check it all out.
Good quality tacos, all the meats have good flavor. These tacos are huge with a freshly made tortilla and guacamole!
Really hot due to no AC and you can’t even eat in peace with all the flies. Good portions but pricey and everything taste the same. Would not recommend
Best tacos in town!! The food is great and the prices are good. I really like that they use 1 corn tortilla instead of 2 and it is actually handmade ? they try their best to keep up with orders but they need better organization and to keep an eye on the salsa bar/lobby. It seems like the cooks are understaffed when I went. I hope they stay here for a long time!
