Made reservations for 6:45 on a Wednesday. We had a party of 6. Atmosphere and decor were excellent. Server was very pleasant the entire night. We all raved about the food, it was all excellent. The standouts were the Poblano Mac&Cheese and the Spanish rice, yes the rice, again. All the food was 10.
Ambiance of the place was excellentRestrooms were nice and clean around 5-7pm on a Sunday evening. Clean restrooms always a plus.Food had no authentic flavor at all.I orderedA cantarito and green enchiladas.Rice was a day oldBlack beans had no flavor most likely from a can,Chicken enchilada was filled with boiled chicken that was shredded but also with no flavor, the corn tortillas were store bought. The sauce was okay wasn’t the best in flavor but that’s what pulled the dish together, but wasn’t exceptional. The cocktail tasted like squirt and Tajin I didn’t get not a hint of tequila in it. Staff was courteous but we got asked if they can remove our plates from the table about 4 times and we clearly were still eating and chatting we weren’t done. I wouldn’t go back. Good had no authentic flare very bland food.
A nice addition to the downtown restaurant scene. Lively and upbeat vibe with friendly servers. A comprehensive Latin fusion menu with a wide and tasty variety of proteins to choose from plus an extensive selection of Latin inspired cocktails that includes a at-your-table bar cart.
From the moment I walked in, it was amazing! Every one of the staff was friendly and attentive. The service was GREAT.. and the food was delicious! If you love Latin food, this is definitely a place you need to try!
I love this place. I didn’t get to take more pictures because it was on Valentine’s Day. I was enjoying the night. However, it was an amazing night. The food was delicious and worth every single dollar. There is valet parking that’s about $10-15 so worth getting because parking can be difficult to find. They have a bar that we were able to go after we finished our dinner. The atmosphere was incredible and elegant. We got an appetizer that had avocado with chips that was recommend to us by the waitress. She was very attentive and welcoming. She helped us pick some amazing alcohol drinks, appetizers and main dishes. I will definitely be going back soon, thank you
Food and drinks were really good. Unfortunately our server was really slow. It took a really long time to get each drink order taken and delivered as well as our food. My chicken was amazing, as was the poblano mac and cheese. For the price of the entrees, I do wish there was another piece of chicken. I was still a bit hungry after finishing. Left enough room for lava cake though which was delish!
Quick SummaryAll fire, but no sizzle. Zama is very social media friendly with its decor, ambiance, and plating. However, the food and service are far from satisfactory. Expect to pay NYC / SF prices as wellFood- 3.5 starsEverything was plated well, but it was a hit or miss on the taste on all dishesChips and salsa- they had some banana tortas that tasted extremely stale and old. The tortilla chips that came by were betterCeviche- this was decent. It had a good amount of acid, but really needed some saltchicken flautas- this was good. It was like a better taquito and impressed with their green saucepollo con mole- the mole was good, but there was a good amount of bones and cartilage, which made it difficult to enjoySkirt steak cheese taco- this was the best entree of the night. The melted cheese really added to the taco and the steak was relatively tenderpollo al pastor- this was seasoned well, but it tasted like a meal-prep mealcochinita pibil- this was decent. I did enjoy their Spanish rice and beanspoblano mac and cheese- this was decentFlan isaac- definitely a denser flan since they use goat cheese. It's decentpanque de elote- this was a little bit better than the FlanDrinks- 4 starsThe drinks were decent, but definitely more on the sweeter side. They were priding themselves on having an in-house mixologists who would make the drinks at table side (e.g. drinks and a show). But was disappointed that despite ordering from the mixologist menu, they were making all the drinks at the bar and the mixologist never came byService- 2 starsService was quite slow, but it wasn't due to lack of staff. There seemed to plenty of servers, but many seemed to be new waiters. Little things like the long duration for the check, lack of refilling water and technique, and forgetting our drink order until the end of our dinner, really led to a subpar experienceAmbiance- 5 starsThe restaurant resembles a modern metro lounge with its decor (it's almost like Catch LA and Catch Las Vegas). Although it was a cool ambiance, the food and service fell shortBottom LineZama gets an A for their marketing and interior decor. However, the food and service failed to meet expectations
Hey this Restaurant is amazing. We went there for my Mans Bday and was blown away. The Staff is on point too. Great selection and food is delicious.
We made reservations for a party of 16 to celebrate birthdays. We arrived early to go and sit at the bar and get some special drinks, the bartender was great and the drinks did not disappoint. Our waitress was Natalia(amazing) to say the least! She did such a great job with all our orders and drink and nothing was rushed. We enjoyed ever part of our evening. If your in Bakersfield or feel like trying a great restaurant, give this place a try! Ask for Natalia as your server! She will not disappoint
The food and service was amazing. Got our drinks with in 10 min. Considering there was no open tables, busy Saturday night. Food was served after and taste delicious. We order ribye and lamb. Everything was on point ?
