Bomb catfish black eyed peas on hit good greens stopped by once and I’m on my way back today super clean excellent service.this is my dinner tonight just had to go back the next day
Was in town for the wrestling state tournament and Denweed hooked us up! The food here is incredible and the service is second to none. I'll recommend to everyone I know when they are in Bakersfield!!!
We were driving though Bakersfield and had to stop somewhere quick to get takeout and so happy we stumbled on this place!! Had the fried catfish and fried chicken and it was so good! Highly recommend. Fast to-go service as well. Everything was beyond delicious. Didn’t even get photos of the food because we ate it so fast.
Family orientated, they are very friendly, respectful and Open-hearted people. Today was my first time and the customer service is outstanding and the food was awesome.
I don't know why all the soul food places are using the pasty powder tasting cheese for their mac. It's disgusting what happened to the good mac thats baked and cheesy. Not with a powder pasty cheese to it. That's my only complaint and its not just this place that does that same mixture for their mac and cheese. I use to love their mac and cheese idk why they changed it up.

If you are looking for amazing comfort food, I found a Bakersfield Destination! I have been trying new to me restaurants in Bakersfield. This one will be on my monthly stops.I had the catfish with fries & greens. This is the best catfish in Bakersfield, Kern County, and even California. This is freshly cooked, masterfully breaded, and perfectly done. The greens were better than my mom's, God rest her soul.I am definitely coming back to try the ribs, the tips, rice & beans, and so many other favorites I can't find anywhere else.I tried my honey's Mac 'n Cheese and Red Snapper. She loved it. I wasn't really interested in those items or the fries.The last part of the meal was the cornbread. It was exactly how I wanted it. The flavor was perfect. The bread was moist. It was like going back in time.
Best fish and chips for take out. Get your salad and other side dishes ready before you pick up your order, because you're not going to want to waste a second doing anything other than eating this delicious fresh fish! As soon as things get back to normal, I'm planning to lobby for another location; all of Bakersfield should be so lucky. Thumbs Way UP
I'm giving 5 starts cause the food was good. Fried chicken was perfectly cooked, black eyed peas was bomb, cornbread was good, greens were good, mac and cheese was good, kool aid was perfect. I'd just say the a la carte sides were kinda small for the price. Even though I was able to break the dish into two meals, I was expecting a larger a la carte! I want to try the catfish next! I'm happy they exist. If this were in my dreams a plate would cost $10.00 but in this economy I can't really scoff at their prices? I wish they were open everyday!
