DOS 06/08/2022Food: I ordered the Fried corn, Hushpuppies, Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and chili beans. I enjoyed the chili beans and mashed potatoes and gravy. I ate too many of those hushpuppies. Those were SO yummy! The fried chicken was just okay for me. I was expecting it to be really flaky and crispy but it was neither. I didn't really care for the fried corn, which was essentially just corn rolled into a batter and fried.Service: Our waitress was amazing. Very fast and attentive. She checked on us often and made sure we always had everything we needed.All in all, it was a nice lunch.
The service is always pleasant. Food is great always seasoned well and it doesn't take them long to bring it out after you order. Red kool-aid is always sweeter than the grape somehow. Macaroni and cheese is not the greatest I've had but it's OK. The other sides pictured are pretty good though. Portions are big enough to share depending on what you get. The neckbones pictured below as you can see fill up your whole plate and surprisingly have a great amount of meat on them. Fish/shrimp is always a good option to get its always cooked perfectly golden brown and flavorful. Ask for the Sock it To Me cake warmed up you won't regret it.
I used to go to this restaurant when it was Jay's place it was one of my favorite restaurants in town now it's called mom's house while not the same as jays but it isn't much different it is still very good.I had the catfish it was breaded and deepfried to perfection . Crunchy and salty on the outside soft and juicy on the inside really good.The yams were excellent some of the best yams I've ever had!The cornbread was just right not too sweet not too Corny.The waffle was spot on . The house syrup is really good.I'm so happy this place reopened with all of my favorites. I can't wait to go back ?!!
I absolutely like the place. I Ordered fish, cabbage, corn bread, rice with gravy. It was Delicious. Clean and organized and the servers were very welcoming and pleasant.
The food was amazing! They surely give you that down home flavor!
I was alittle hesitant because last time I went I had the catfish and it was super salty but they're under different ownership and let me say the food was so delicious! I took my mom and we both had the catfish, yams, chicken dressing with sweet peach tea. Service was excellent and prices are great. If my mom was pleased I am a happy daughter.
If you are in the mood for authentic souther style comfort food, this is the spot for you. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by one of the staff with a friendly smile and energetic enthusiasm. Once you are seated the server is punctual and attentive. The food comes out quickly and tastes great! You definitely have to try this spot.

Our server, Riley, was over the top genuinely nice (something you dont see often). Very informative and helpful. I ordered grilled cat fish ?; it was amazing.I'm definitely going to be back.Make sure to ask for Riley when you come here.She's a hard working college student.
The staff is well-trained the food is delicious and always have a nice time when I eat there
