I’m telling everyone right here and right now!!!! There is a slave tied up in that kitchen Seriously lol, this place has the best fried chicken I’ve ever tasted. It’s extremely dangerous on how good the food there is!!! BEWARE if your not ready to be hooked for days and days in there food STAY AWAY, but if you like food like me then GET there now
Sunday morning is a busy time for this place. I loved the deep pit omelette. Despite the busy rush we got our food in a timely manner.
The restaurant was crowded for Saturday breakfast, we were greeted by Mark and seated pretty quickly. We had two children with us and the kids loved their pancakes!We had the Cajun shrimp omelette, chicken fried steak and pastrami. We all enjoyed our breakfast. Service was a bit slow, food arrived without any silverware! Only 4 sets of silverware were brought to our party of 6. They may have been shorthanded as everyone else is these days. Thank you mark for the hospitality, we will visit again!
I’m going to leave what I believe to be one of the only honest reviews of this place that you’ll find. I’m not a difficult person to please. In most cases, I find myself to be somewhat of a pushover. I typically do not complain about anything, even when I’m met with the absolute worst. This time, however, I’m left with no choice but to speak up. My dad recommended we go to this place because he had been coming for years, but we both left unsatisfied. First of all, the food is overpriced. I would be willing to pay as much as it is if the food was at least somewhat warm, but it was nowhere near room temperature. It took over 30 minutes to get our food, which, of course, was ice cold. The waffle was thin and burned, and the eggs were brown and undercooked. The hash browns were burned on the outside and raw in the middle, and the biscuit was probably the worst I have ever had. It tasted and felt like I was eating a stick of deodorant. The waiter was not personable in the slightest. It was like pulling teeth trying to get him to do anything at all. There was no cream for my coffee, and when I asked he brought me a receptacle of cream with a crusted film on top. It was also warm and slightly chunky. He never came back to ask how anything was, and when we ordered he was exceptionally rude, cutting me off whenever I would ask a question like he was in a hurry when the place was half empty. I hate to leave reviews like this because I like to support local businesses, but this is a place that needs to correct some major issues. It was $50 for two people to eat and absolutely nothing was good. I will never be coming back. Extremely disappointed.
We loved everything about our visit from the immediate welcome with smiles when we walked in to the friendly staff all around throughout our visit, also great service and delicious food! Enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and nostalgic music that was at an enjoyable level so we could have a conversation without having to speak up. Definitely coming back again!
This is one of the top 10 places in Bakersfield to eat breakfast. I eat breakfast here frequently and it’s always a great meal no complaints service is wonderful. Restaurant and bathroom are always clean. The employees are happy to see you. Pictured here is chili verde omelette, huevos rancheros with a side of biscuits gravy, chicken fried chicken steak with eggs and Belgian waffle with berries and homemade peanut butter cream sauce. All their food is terrific.
The food was good. Took longer than usual. Then we asked for food to go when ordering. They forgot to put it in. Then they made chicken fried steak instead of chicken fried chicken. I had to bring the food back to get the correct order. They fixed it and apologized and gave us both orders of food and a cinnamon roll. Everyone makes mistakes it is how you fix it. Good job on fixing our order even though it was a pain. We will return to eat again at this dinner.
Had the green fried tomatoes and eggs and daughter had the chicken and waffles. Didn't know Bakersfield had this type of food and let me tell you we were not disappointed. The food was so good.. highly recommend
Usually the food is good here but not today, the waitress said the chicken and waffle was the best anywhere. The chicken was burned so I didn’t eat it and the waitress never came back to ask how was everything as she asked her other customers. I wasn’t charged for the chicken just the thin waffle and iced tea. 11 dollars.
