I've been dining here since they were at the old location in the 90's. This is still some of the best food and service in the country. Luigi and Tony know how to run a restaurant. They treat you like family and spoil you. Absolutely love this place.
First and last time I eat at this restaurant. I order $34 shrimp dish, that upon looking at the mushrooms were canned. The sauce was congealed not hot at all. It had about 10 penne pasta on it. My sister order a lobster pasta and unknowingly ordered an $80 dish. To think that the waiter would have informed her about the price. Dishes are more than $30 and do not include the soup or salad, which again failed to be informed that it is an extra cost. Definitely will not be back! Disappointed especially with the rating this place has.
Nice place, first time there. As soon as we walked in greeted by hostess, the waiter Javier was awesome. Explained the meals and specials. We were tended throughout the dining experience. Sure a little pricey, but you get what you paid for.My only hang up is that they do not have Cannoli for dessert. Had other great desserts.
Let me just say it's a beautiful restaurant that makes you expect it to be fine dining. Well dressed waiters, great mood lighting and aesthetics, as well as authentic options for food. However, the flavor in many of the options were lacking to me. I went for a pharmaceutical dinner but I felt like the appetizers were not seasoned well, especially salt. The sausage and marinara was very good and seasoned well but the calamari was a bit overcooked and rubbery with no taste to the batter. The table salad was fresh. However the New York strip was overcooked and absolutely needed the peppercorn sauce to add any sort of flavor to the cut of meat I had. I would try it again for an event for another shot but the overall feel didn't make me want to eat here again with my family.
I truly hate to leave a poor review. Unfortunately, I expected better quality for what I paid.
The 3rd place I've tried escargot locally and the best so far. Excellent service. We went after a movie and were pretty casual. It didn't effect their service at all. I had the Carbonara, (picture here). Excellent
I’m from the east coast and anytime I come into town I dine at Mama Tosca’s. Everything about the dining experience will make you feel at home. It is a true gem of Bakersfield.
They treated me like a queen for my birthday! Even though I reserved for 6, then 12, and only 8 showed up. They put my Smith's cupcakes in their fridge and everything! The appetizers were exquisite, and I loved my cocktail. The only problem is that they wouldn't initially accommodate split checks, so that became an issue. But I'll definitely be back!
Nice environment, friendly waiter however the food was bland & we waited quite long for our main course. Definitely not worth $100.
Good restaurant but they take long time to serve
